(Rekha) Zameen Aasman (1972)

The unique thing about this album is that its music was compsed by that multi-faceted genius, Kishoreda. Here is a phenomenon with no formal musical training, finding his niche in so many different areas that you can't help but admire. I cannot substantiate for sure the exact source of these songs. I marked them as from a CD but they could have been, at least some of the songs, from the Forum. Nevertheless my many thanks to the members. Here are the songs ...

(Waheeda) Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (1962)

Thanks a Lot Swarapriya... for bringing up Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam...

For me this film is the ultimate zenith Hindi Cinema could ever reach.. looked like even the wind used to sway on Guru Dutt's Direction... If there is anything "Perfect" on the "Reel" - IT IS THIS FILM. I can watch it whenever I get a chance.... and every time I see it, my fascination with Meen Kumari, Guru Dutt, Geeta Dutt grows by leaps and bounds...

As far as music goes - "Piya Aiso Jiya Mein..." - was the one which brought me in to this wonderful world of music... when I first saw the song on DD's "Chitrahar" - I was just mesmerized... I could not understand a single word of Hindi those days... but just for the sake of this song I learnt Hindi and my journey in to the fascinating world of music started and is still going on strong.

Now - I don’t know why Bollywood is bent upon damaging all that is good & great.. by recreating them with utter disrespect to these master pieces... but let them try.. it will just contribute to the fact that they are just pathetic at it..

Thanks for sharing this with us. No matter how much you say about some things, it seems like you haven't said enough about them. This is a marvel of a movie that stays with you forever.

Cheers,

(Saira) Gopi (1970)

Here the husband and wife, Dilip and Saira, team up for the first time in a movie that was very forgettable. This was the time in which Dilip Saab was going through a lean period. It seems like even best of us sometimes can't escape such lull periods. But songs by the duo Kalyanji & Anandji are hummably good. Here they are ...

(Vyjayanti) New Delhi (1956)

Here is one of Shankar & Jaikishan's early beauty. It has nine beautiful songs, all solos, six by Lata and three by Kishoreda. The movie has one of my favorite Kishoreda's song, "Nakhrewaali". I am uploading all these songs, in back-to-back posts, and an extended version of "Tum Sang Preet Lagaayi". This is by the courtesy of the Forum members. Thank you.

Here is the first set of songs ...
