Swarapriya

Based on the information I got from Mahesh Sharma ji, Asha ji and Ravi's wife were very close friends. Asha ji was like a family member at Ravi's place. Right from Ravi's debut film Vachan (1955), he always gave most of his songs to Asha ji.

Now, it is one's personal decision if the singer wants to acknowledge the contribution of a particular composer in making his/her career. There are other successful singers who never recognized the efforts of stalwarts composers.

Whether Asha ji mentions it or not, true music lovers know what is the contribution of O P Nayyar in the making of her career.

I remember one line which OP sahab used to quote. "Never give explanations. Your enemies will not believe them and your friends do not need them".

Cheers
Parag

That expalins why Ravi had Asha sing so many songs for him. Thank you very much for the information, Parag. Also, that is an absolutely great quote from OP. Hey bhai, hum bhi dekhe hain yeh duniya ko khareeb se ...

Cheers,
Swarapriya

(Sadhana) Mere Mehboob (1963)

Here is another beautiful album from Naushad ji. Complementing this is the ravishingly beautiful Sadhana who never looked this alluring before.

Because of the number of songs, I am uploading them in two back-to-back posts. There are a couple of longer version of songs that I am uploading. These both are from a DVD. I am also including a second version of the song "Mere Mehboob Mein Kya Nahin" with Lata's commentary. The song is the same but commentary makes it interesting.

Now for the first set of songs ...

(Saira) Saaz Aur Awaz (1966)

Here is another beauty from Naushad Saab. There are some beautiful solos by Rafi Saab such as "Dil Ki Mehfil Saji Hai" and "Saaz Ho Tum Aawaaz Hoon Main". There are other solos by Lata and Suman that are also equally good. Also Rafi Saab's three duets. Because of their lengths, I will upload them in two back-to-back posts.

Here is the first set of songs ...

(Sharmila) An Evening In Paris (1967)

Here is a beautiful album from the great pair Shankar & Jaikishan. Almost every song was a huge hit when the movie was released. Raf Saab has six beautiful solos and a hauntingly beautiful duet with Asha, "Raat Ke Hamsafar". Because of the number of songs I will upload them in two back-to-back posts. Here is the first set of songs ...
