Heer Ranjha (1992)

This movie was a flop. However, it has some really beautiful songs. I will upload these in two back-to-back posts. I may have asssigned wrong names fror singers as I lost this information. If someone can authenticate the singer names, it will be great.

Here is the first set of songs ...

Heera Ranjha (1948)

Here are some of the songs from the 1948 version of "Heera Ranjha". All these are by the courtesy of the Forum members ...

Swarapriya

Corrections required:

Teri Zaat Hai Akbari Sarwari is a duet and the male singer is Khaiyyam...

Kaise Kaatoon is a solo...Kafas Ki Qaid is a duet and possibly sung with Wali Khan, who I hadn't heard of before...

SP,

Qafas Ki Qaid Mein is a duet. Can someone please confirm the male singer? At some places it is credited to G. M Durrani and at some places to Khaiyyam.

Dil Yoon Yoon Karta Hai is also a duet, possibly with Khaiyyam.

Also, it is incorrect to credit only Khaiyyam as the MD. I read somewhere that there were 11 songs in the film, 6 were composed by Sharmaji-Varmaji (Khaiyyam & Rehman) and 5 by Aziz Khan. Does anyone know the official credits for each of the songs?

Here are a few of the missing songs:

1. Kahe Ko Byahi Bides - Lata (MD: Aziz Khan?) - 128kbps/03:08

2. Khamosh Fasana Hai - Lata, G.M Durrani (MD: Aziz Khan?) - 128 kbps/03:10 - audio quality is below average

3. Teri Meri Meri teri Dosti - Geeta (MD: Sharmaji Varmaji?) - 128 kbps/ 03:18

Requesting upload of the following missing songs:

-Sar Patakte Hi Rahe Yaar Ki Dehleez Pe - ???
- Shehron Mein Se Shehr Suna Tha Shehr Suna Lahore - Uma Devi

Aditya

Aditya

The male singer of Teri Zaat Hai Akbari and Qafas Ki Qaid doesn't sound like the same person so I would exclude Khaiyyam from Qafas, assuming he sang Teri Zaat. That leaves GM which it 'nearly' sounds like or another unknown singer...

Thanks for Kahe Ko Byahi Bides...Asha has a somewhat similar song in Suhagan (1954)

(Mumtaz) Gehra Daag (1963)

If my memory serves me correctly, this movie was produced and directed by O.P. Ralhan who also happens to be the brother-in-law of Rajendra Kumar, its hero. Ralhan also acted in the movie, kind of a comedian type role. But as usually has been the case, it was Ravi again as the music director who is on the mark with several beautiful songs. He was at the height of his creativity in 60's and composed several memorable songs. Asha Bhosle has been one of his favorite singers.

Swarapriya

Based on the information I got from Mahesh Sharma ji, Asha ji and Ravi's wife were very close friends. Asha ji was like a family member at Ravi's place. Right from Ravi's debut film Vachan (1955), he always gave most of his songs to Asha ji.

Now, it is one's personal decision if the singer wants to acknowledge the contribution of a particular composer in making his/her career. There are other successful singers who never recognized the efforts of stalwarts composers.

Whether Asha ji mentions it or not, true music lovers know what is the contribution of O P Nayyar in the making of her career.

I remember one line which OP sahab used to quote. "Never give explanations. Your enemies will not believe them and your friends do not need them".

Cheers
Parag
