Shankar & Jaikishan made sure that this day, April 1, celebrated as an All Fool's Day around the world, will be remembered by the Indian music lovers forever by composing some of their beautiful and memorable music for this film. Subodh Mukherjee, who introduced Saira in "Junglee" in 1960, is back here with another winner with her in this film, "April Fool".

The verbiage in the song is the same in longer versions as well except each of them has extra music preceding them. Please note the music clip "Pool Aquatics Show" is included in the extended version of the song "Aa Gale Lag Jaa". If you are downloading that particular song, you don't need to download the music clip.

(Rekha) Utsav (1984)

This period drama was produced by Shashi Kapoor on a grand scale. In spite of good music and a sensuous performance by Rekha the movie was a flop. Shashi suffered a great deal financially after this setback.

There are only four songs in the film but all of them are very good. LP sparkles here with songs like "Mann Kyon Behka", my favorite song of the album, followed by "Neelam Ke Nabh" and Suresh Wadkar's "Saanjhe Dhale". Anuradha Paudwal won the Best Female Playback Singer Award from Filmfare for the song "Mere Mann". To me this was the only song from the film that was least appealing. It was a group song and somehow Anuradha was singled out for the award. I never can understand how these things work.

(Hema) Mulzim (1988)

Here is another retread with a story that was told umpteen times before. It has similar refurbished uninspiring songs. The movie endlessly boasts the same contrived insipid situations that doesn't do much to perk up your interest. I am not a fan of Amrita Singh, but interestingly, this movie gave her a meaty role and I thought she did a fine job.

(Hema) Rihaee (1988)

Here is a film with an unusual story where one finds that when men are away to earn income to support their families and having their way with women where they are working, back home women also are desperate and looking for men to satisfy their desires. This leads to unexpected pregnancies for women who were not with their men and the resulting complications lead to ultimate showdown of test of wills between the men and women that eventually leads to a greater understanding of needs between the genders.

This film has several nice songs composed by Sharang Dev. I am not completely confident that the singer assignments are correct in the table given below. Please share with us any discrepancies. Also, I do not have the individual assignments of the names of the lyricists. Please kindly share the breakdown if you can. Thank you.
