(Hema) Maan Gaye Ustad (1981)
Here are all of the songs from this album. There are several nice songs in this film including a beautiful duet of Asha & Rafi Saab and a couple of nice solos by Asha. But Rafi Saab's solo, "Allah Ka Naam", takes the top honors. By the way, the song "Mera Ek Sawaal Hai" came in at nearly 8 minutes long. I am not sure why but the last three minutes are repeats of the first antara making it that long. If anyone is interested I can upload the full version. The song I am uploading here is with the repeated antaras removed. Here are these fine songs... Attached image(s) ![]() |

(Mala) Phir Kab Milogi (1974)
Hrishida's maiden directorial venture was "Musafir" made in 1957. Until that time he was an editor for many fine films. "Musafir" boasted a stellar cast including the great Dilip Kumar, who even sang a song in that film. Dilip Saab appears as a guest in this Hrishida directed film after 17 years. Another interesting feature about this move is that Mukesh makes a rare appearance as a singer for RD's film. When they collaborated for the heartwarming song "Jis Gali Mein Tera Ghar Na Ho" in "Kati Patang" in 1970 that became an instant classic, I expected more from them. Too bad they didn't continue their association. Here are the songs from this film... Attached image(s) ![]() |

(Asha) Andolan (1995)
This is the last movie in this thread we will be covering on Asha Parekh. We started this thread on May 29, 2009. After 22 months, we covered all films she starred in, about 85 films altogether. She was one of those stars who seemed to have the Midas touch. Like Rajendra Kumar who was hailed as a Jubilee Star amongst males, Asha was similarly a Jubilee Star amongst females. Most of her movies enjoyed success at the box office and her movies generally had many good songs in them. Like most of the movies of 90’s, this movie has all songs by Kumar Sanu. He has four duets with Alka Yagnik, one with Sapna Mukherjee, and the other with both Alka and Udit Narayan. I am uploading these songs in two back-to-back posts. Here are the songs in the first post… Attached image(s) ![]() |

(Mumtaz) Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971)
Zeenat made a sensational appearance in this movie auguring a new era of womanhood in Bombay filmdom. Never before this film had the audience seen in a Hindi movie a woman puffing smoke and enjoying the company of drug addicts. In Raj Kapoor’s classic film “Shree 420 (1955)”, Nadira smoked a cigarette, but she was showing off fashionable elegance. In this movie, Zeenat was showing an indifferent irreverence towards anything so called decent life loving norms humans believe in. She put on quite a convincing show. The tributes go to the director of the movie, Dev Anand. This was Dev's second movie as a director. After the miserable flop of his first directorial venture “Prem Pujari (1970)”, Dev was looking to reprieve himself by coming up with something unforgettable. That he did with this movie about pop culture and its effect and consequences on people’s lives. The movie was based on Dev’s own story idea. For Dev, this smashing success will elude for the rest of his career. He was never able to repeat the similar spectacular success he enjoyed with this film. Another contributing factor for the success of the movie was R.D. Burman's mesmerizing music. Dev rightfully chose RD, instead of his father, to compose the music for the film. RD responded with a bang by providing unforgettable music that was full of heat and beat. The song "Dum Maaro" became an instant cult phenomenon. Huffing and puffing, Asha breathes life into the song making it a beautiful listening experience. The oomph, the "mast", it is all there. An unforgettable lovely. Sometime back I was in attendance at one of Asha's concerts. She recited the story that the song "Dum Maaro" almost didn't make it. Dev Anand wanted to scrap it thinking that it will project a wrong image and may be not necessary to the proceedings of the story. But better senses prevailed. The song did remain in the movie and became such an integral part of the story. Asha won the Best Female Singer Award for the song from Filmfare. Zeenat was not the first actress of choice for the role she played in the movie. Several others were considered including Mumtaz. But Mumtaz wanted to play the part of the leading lady opposite Dev. Then the role was offered to Zeenat which she readily accepted. For her stunning performance, Zeenat earned the Best Support Actress Award from Filmfare magazine. She also won the BFJA Award as the Best Actress. While making the movie, Dev went to court to have Mumtaz available for shooting of the film in Nepal. She was a busy actress during this time and producers did not want her to go on an extended period of time without honoring her other commitments. When they tried to stop, Dev went to the court and got a verdict in his favor. The movie was shot without further hitch. I am uploading the songs of this film from an original soundtrack album and also a couple of specials in two back-to-back postings. Here is a description of the songs and the songs themselves from the first post... This post has been edited by swarapriya: Nov 4 2011, 10:17 AM Attached image(s) ![]() |
