Ramudu Bheemudu (1964) - A Telugu Film

This hit Telugu film was the basis of the Hindi hit "Ram Aur Shyam (1967)". This was the first film by Suresh Pictures who beacme a force in the Telugu film industry and went on to make over 100 plus movies. They also made several Hindi films to their credit. Here are the details of the songs from this film and the songs themselves ...

Madam, there are two other hilarious songs/padyams in the movie, 1. Po Pora Pommikan, Maa Gruhammunaku Bhojanammunaku Ika Ravaladu Raa Tagadu (Madhavapeddi & Ghantasaa) and 2. Po Mama Pommikan (Ghantasala)!!!

The first one is by Ramana Reddy and Relangi and the second one is a tit-for-tat sequel to the first one by Relangi!!!!!!!!!! smile.gif

Venkat

I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

Mohammed Rafi: Highest Quantity Of Greatest Quality In Mind-boggling Variety!!!

(Zeenat) The Great Gambler (1979)

Here is a stylish composition from RD. The songs fit the mood of the film which was kind of James Bondish that was shot in some exotic foreign locations. Shakti Samanta, who made so many great movies with Rajesh Khanna, like "Aradhana (1969)", "Kati Patang (1970)", "Amar Prem (1971)", and others, switched to Amitabh as his hero with this movie. Even though Amitabh was at the top of his popularity, the movie proved to be only a moderate success, mainly because of its spineless story premise.

Here are the details of the songs from the original soundtrack album and the songs themselves ...

(Asha) Kanyadaan (1969)

Here is another one of my favorite S&J album. Here every song is just beautifully done. Rafi Saab's both solos are like himself phenomenally great. Then there is a typical Lata number that has to appear in an S&J album. I am referring here to the song "Mil Gaye". The song really is beautifully sung by Lata, an expert at these type of songs.

I am uploading songs from this album in two back-to-back posts. Now for the details of the songs from the original songtrack album and the songs themselves ...

I am including in this post a version song of "Meri Zindagi" by Sonu Nigam. This is taken from the album "Never Forget Me - Mohd. Rafi".

Here are the rest of the songs ...

Excellent description! Just another example about how Rafisaab imortalised compositions, a rare and unique aspect exclusive to Rafisaab only.

PLAYBACK SINGING STARTS AND ENDS WITH RAFISAAB. IN TERMS OF QUALITY, CONSISTENCY & VERSATILITY, RAFISAAB IS INFINITE LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF ALL SINGERS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER HIM.

(Hema) Kasauti (1974)

I am uploading here all songs from an original soundtrack album of this film. The song by Kishoreda, "Hum Bolega", was a huge hit. A lovely and different type of song.

Now for the songs ...

(Mumtaz) Sikandar-E-Azam (1965)

24 years earlier, in 1941, the great Sohrab Modi produced, directed, and acted in a movie called "Sikandar". In that movie he played Porus (Purshottam) whereas the young Prithviraj Kapoor played Sikandar. Now in this movie on the same subject, Prithviraj gets to play from the opposite side of the table, this time as Porus. Sikandar is now Dara Singh.

This album has some nice songs composed by Hansraj Behl. Here is a description of these and the songs themselves ...

SP, thanks for the un-truncated version of the Lata song "O mere yaar o dildaar" from "Sikandar-e-Azam. This is a particular favorite of mine that I heard once approximately 30 years back when I saw the film on Doordarshan. It stuck in my head and I was not able to find it for years till the DVD was released. And while the song was there, the beginning and end were a bit truncated in my copy. It was only a few seconds, so it was okay. Now I am happy to have an even more pristine version.
But that apart, between this song and of course the beautiful Rafi solo, the soundtrack stands out. The Asha solo is average (bordering on above average perhaps :-) )
I had not heard the Mahendra Kapoor solo or the Asha/Usha duet before. So thanks for those.

Since you mentioned the older Sohrab Mody film "Sikandar", I wanted to add that in this version, the young Prithviraj Kapoor is incredibly dapper and looks almost exactly like Shashi Kapoor. I remember seeing a scene from the film and thought it was Shashi, till I saw a young Sohrab Mody and realized my mistake.
