(Nutan) Chandan (1958)

Here are some of the songs from this album composed by Madan Mohanji. The four songs I am uploading are by the courtesy of the Forum members. Thank you. It appears that I am missing at least three more songs from this album shown in red italics in the table below. I am requesting the members to share these if they can. Thanks.

Here are the four songs ...

here are two songs remaining???

1)58-chandan-asha-jab thoda thoda aankhon se qusoor ho gaya-rajaindra krishan-3.13 mins-192 br

2)58-chandan-lata-MM-mohobbat na hoti duniya na hoti-3.18 mins-192 br ????. this song i doubt is from CHANDAN but anyhow beautiful song,

if sombody can throw more light.

taiyab53

Taiyab ji,

I haven't seen Chandan, but I think the song Ye Khule Khule Se Gesu ... Log Kahen Mere Nain Baaware is one long song that can be considered as four songlets:
- Log Kahen Mere Nain Baawre
- Kab Dekh Saki Duniya Haye Pyar Kisi Ka
- Mohabbat Na Hoti
- Takra Na Saka Pyar Se Bedard Zamana

Madan Mohan's website says this:

"In the film "Chandan", the song "Ye Khule Khule Se Gesoo, Ye Udee Udee Si Rangat... Log Kahe Mere Nain Baaware", has all the three stanzas composed in different tunes. There are three heroines in this film viz. Nutan, Shyama and Mala Sinha. Possibly, each stanza is picturised on a different actress."

The abpve probably can be considered as the stanzas although the tunes are so different that they seem like different songs.

Aditya

thanks for the reference, but Aditya this looks a full song.

i have checked HGK there is no reference of this song starting with MOHOBBAT NA HOTI.

may be this songs starts with some lines before.

thanks

taiyab

Even if you listen the second portion of Log Kahen Mere Nain (i.e. Kab Dekh Saki Duniya Sari), it seems like a complete song by itself. Similary 'Takra Na Saka" that follows Mohabbat Na Hoti aslo seems like a complete song. That's the reason I think that all the four portions are probably counted as one single song in HFGK - Log kahen Mere Nain Baawre.

I don't have HFGK, but Vishwas Nerurkar's Lata anthology, lists Log Kahen mere Nain Baware as a chorus song. The chorus does not appear anywhere in the song till the last part of Mohabbat Na Hoti.

Anyway, this is my conjecture that can only be proved once one is able to see the film. Has anyone seen the film?

Thanks and regards
Aditya

(Saira) Sagina (1974)

There are only four songs in this fine album by Burmanda. All are sung by Kishore and all are duets. Here are the details of these songs from the original sound track album and the songs themselves ...

(Sharmila) Aavishkar (1973)

Here is one of my favorite movies of Sharmila and Rajesh. A very gripping and bold story told with a lot of passion by its director Basu Bhattacharya. The theme dealing with day to day pressures of life impacting marital bliss has been dealt so well that it definitely leaves one thinking. It tells the story of how people who are in so much love with each other can drift apart so quickly.

Rajesh gives a restrained performance even though there is an occasional tendency for him to drift into his pet mannerisms. But to me, Sharmila gave one of the finest performances of her life. With beautiful looks amplified by her expressive eyes she gives such an intense performance that it makes an indelible impression on you.

The music by Kanu Roy who gave us such beautiful and unforgettable songs (sung unforgettably by the great one, Geetaji) his last time around in 1971 with "Anubhav" comes back with yet another haunting score here. The standout song of the album is the beauty by Asha, "Naina Hain Pyaase Mere". Just riveting. This is Asha at her best. A lovely song sung with such deep emotion. It wrings your heart out.

Here is this song and others from the original soundtrack album ...

(Vyjayanti) Sitaron Se Aage (1958)

Here is another a typically beautiful but lesser known album from Burmanda. All songs in this album are solos with Asha, Geeta, Lata, and Rafi Saab participating. I will upload them in two back-to-back posts. Now for the details of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ...

Here's one missing song from Sitaron Se Aage. I consider this to be one of the finest Lata song by SDB.

(Waheeda) Ram Aur Shyam (1967)

"Gunga Jumna (1961)" was the last major hit Dilip enjoyed until the release of "Ram Aur Shyam". With the huge money spent on it, "Leader (1964)" could barely garner its investment back. "Dil Diya Dard Liya (1966)" met a similar fate. Ironically the music by Naushadji was outstanding for all of these movies. Probably the commercial failure must have been irking in Naushadji’s mind when he was asked to compose the music for "Ram Aur Shyam". Here was a movie, first made in Telugu called "Ramudu Bheemudu (1964)" that was a runaway hit. It was remade in Tamil with equal success. When Dilipji was approached to play not one but two roles of twin brothers of the movie, he jumped at the opportunity to play a dual role for the first time in his career. When the movie was released and became a huge hit, the muisc didn't contribute much to its success. It was Naushadji's inferior effort. Yes. There are a couple of hummable tunes. But by and large it was not to the standard Naushadji set everybody's expectations to.

Incidentally, Vyjayanti Mala was originally cast to play one of the heroines in the movie. Two weeks of the movie also was in the can. This was the time when Vyjayanti Mala was drifting away from Dilipji and moving towards Raj Kapoor's camp. This irritated Dilipji to no end and he was in no mood to work with her as his costar. It was difficult to work for all those involved and the production was dragging under this cloud given the set of circumstances. Vyjayanti Mala was replaced almost immediately by Waheeda Rehman and the production went without a hitch afterwards.

This is another movie which fetched Dilip Saab the Best Actor award from Filmfare. It was almost a routine to expect his winning if he was in a movie. This movie also inspired later "Seeta Aur Geeta (1972)" with roles of twin brothers switched to twin sisters, played by Hema Malini. Salim and Javed took the credit for that story even though it was not their original idea.

I will upload songs from the Telugu film in this section when I am done with the songs of the Hindi version. Now for the details of the songs from the original sound track album of "Ram Aur Shyam" and the songs themselves ...

Madam, there are two other hilarious songs/padyams in the movie, 1. Po Pora Pommikan, Maa Gruhammunaku Bhojanammunaku Ika Ravaladu Raa Tagadu (Madhavapeddi & Ghantasaa) and 2. Po Mama Pommikan (Ghantasala)!!!

The first one is by Ramana Reddy and Relangi and the second one is a tit-for-tat sequel to the first one by Relangi!!!!!!!!!! smile.gif

Venkat

I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

(Zeenat) The Great Gambler (1979)

Here is a stylish composition from RD. The songs fit the mood of the film which was kind of James Bondish that was shot in some exotic foreign locations. Shakti Samanta, who made so many great movies with Rajesh Khanna, like "Aradhana (1969)", "Kati Patang (1970)", "Amar Prem (1971)", and others, switched to Amitabh as his hero with this movie. Even though Amitabh was at the top of his popularity, the movie proved to be only a moderate success, mainly because of its spineless story premise.

Here are the details of the songs from the original soundtrack album and the songs themselves ...
