We are glad that the domain name www.geetadutt.com was reserved by HF and we launched this site dedicated to the legendary playback singer. I was surprised to see that there is a site called www.gurudutt.com and it is owned by some photographer by the name Guru Dutt.

Parag, It is not just a website..Earlier it was our dream. Subir ji, This dream could not have come true without your efforts. I have just seen a couple of under construction pages, and I am moved by the elegancy and grace that overflows in them. I can just imagine how hard you would have worked for designing and creating it. You really deserve a standing ovation. ![]() Pratul. Recommendations we have got so far :
1) Post Geeta Dutt's interviews if any 2) On the home page the sliding photos should be a link to the Photo album page 3) It is better to have lighter color which is more attracting and good for our eyes also. 4) Please try to put all interviews(text) or magzine articles on Geeta ji. ( few are there but external links !) 5) A small thing I noticed is in the section 'Life with Gurudutt'.. is that Guru Dutt's family is from "Mysore"... the fact is that the 'Padukone' family to which Guru Dutt belonged hails from "Mangalore" (Panambur, a village in South Kanara district of Karnataka - to be precise)... where you will find may Konkani speaking people to which the surname 'Padukone' generally belongs to. 6) A small help on the icons on the Photo Album section on www.geetadutt.com need to be added to that page 7) No mention of song(s) sung by Geeta ji by R D Burman -> We ourselves do not know/have any song. Any one having these songs, please contact us at geetaduttfans@gmail.com. Thanks in advance 8) No online playing of songs -> We will soon be having a Jukebox on the site. 9) Geeta and Guru Dutt family tree 10) Hindi text can show up in Devnagri instead of or along with the Roman transliteration? 12) There seems to be no mention of her non filmi songs The navigation to these links is slighly unintuitive... -> Need to fix this so that these links are obvious to the visitor 13) Dear Waheed bhai has provided information on one more song for the section "Same tune in Hindi and other language". The song is "Ek gagan pankh ka pankheroo" from Nanand Bhaujai (Hindi and Gujrati). Both sung by Geeta ji. 15) An article "Shooting stars" in the "Did you know" section. This will describe Geeta ji's songs with lesser known composers like B N Bali, Bipin Babul, Manohar, Sailesh, Hiren Bose etc. Thanks Parag Please visit www.geetadutt.com

Due to lack of resources and any information on Geeta ji's life and career after the demise of her husband Guru Dutt, we could only come up with very limited information on the website.
http://geetadutt.com/1966-69.html Now after reading the book "Geeta Dutt : The Skylark" its obvious that she did put a a very brave struggle (against all odds) from 1965 onwards. Its extremely sad that all her health problems caught up with her leading to her death in 1972 at a young age of 41. We will be contacting the author of the book to take her permission, so that we can have some information from the book on our website. Parag Please visit www.geetadutt.com

What more can we do to make the site better?
Now that we have the site launched and some features which need to be implemented, what is the next roadmap? I take the liberty of sharing the ideas from a great friend and an extremely kind soul. These were the suggestions I got sometime in the month of July last year. Obviously due to practical limitations they could not be implemented. We used the general information available on the internet and came up with interesting pieces of articles for the site. Here is a direction to get more authentic information about Geeta ji. Quote : This is an immense undertaking. It is people like you who have such passion for Geetaji can pull this through. But remember, you don't have to do it all by yourself. You have to enlist help from others who can do bits and pieces of things. Remember, Rome was not built in a day. Before you can sprint, you should learn to run. Before you can run, you should be able to walk. Same thing applies to this. I won't get disheartened by the dauntingly imposing task. Let your passion be the guide and things will fall in place to complete this puzzle. To put together the puzzle, it takes identifying proper pieces and then laying them in their places. You already are in a better situation. You are surrounded by many friends of the Forum who admire your work and tenacity. Once the real work starts, things will start happening. In the beginning things can be small. It doesn't need to be very elaborate. One has to take a step after step to reach the desired destination. I agree that Talatji's site has enarmous backing and support. But you will be srurprised how much you can find and discover when you start pursuing this dream of yours. Geetaji may have passed away but she touched so many lives when she was alive. These are the resources one should be able to tap. She had famous brothers. Someone should know more about them. Once we can find their relatives, it should become easier to collect information. On the other side, Geetaji herself had children who probably are adults. We should be able to get in touch with them and get their support. From Guru Dutt's side there are still many who are in the film business. Kalpana Lajmi (of "Rudali" fame) is one of them. She still is making movies. She probably will cooperate when she learns about the project. Dev Anand is still alive. Remember Dev and Guru were great friends. Dev is an old man, but still has so much zest and enthusiasm for life that he never ceases to amaze me. He also seems like a genuinely caring guy. He or his son Suneil may provide some input. Raj Khosla is no more but we should be able to get in touch with someone from his family or friends' circle. He was a friend of Guru. That means he was a friend of Geetaji as well. V.K. Murty, Abrar Alvi, Sadiq, Ravi, Asha Bhosle, Hemantda's relatives, descendants of Burmanda, descendants of Johny Walker, Mehmood, actor Rehman, Mala Sinha, Shyama, Shakila, the list goes on ... These all are at our disposal. Only thing is the information some of them provide will not become available by November of this year. But, like I said before, one can always start small. My recommendation is to start investigating on how to find these contacts. Communicate with them directly. They will help. May not be all of them. But many of them will come forward to give a hand. You get the idea where I am going with this. Lot to do. But this is the price one has to pay to realize their dream. This is the legacy one is remembered by. Like someone said, it is the journey but not the destination that counts. You've already undertaken this journey. Keep moving forward one step at a time to your destination that may be elusive today, but that will be within your reach in no time ... End of Quote Please visit www.geetadutt.com

The author Haimanti Banerjee ji has seen our site in details and truly praised our little tribute. The only one area of improvement is to provide more focus on the "Geeta Roy" behind the Geeta Dutt. The same sentiment was echoed by many music lovers of RMIM.
Thanks to every one who contributed to make this site happen. We will surely try to provide more focus on songs and career of Geeta ji between 1946 and 1953 during the site updates. Thanks Parag Please visit www.geetadutt.com
