Another interesting pic of the playback singers of the golden era. I read somewhere that this was taken at a concert arranged at Shanmukhand Hall in Mumbai.

Geeta ji looks so radiant and charming in the pic. The year of the pic is 1951 or so

Going by the huge number of singers there my guess is it maybe a function organised by the playback singer's association.

Yes, that seems to be a correct guess. I remember reading this line in Shirish Kanekar's book :

"After this, never would have so many melodious voices come on the same stage"

There are many circumstances when life will deal unfair cards to us. Geeta Ji's life was one such. She had so much to give and yet, it all was cut short by so many reasons. After a long a time, it is nice to do something to keep her memory alive...and an effort to make others realize the beautiful numbers she sang...in so many different languages and to bring back some memories and reminiscences of those golden times.

So nicely put together. Thanks once again buddy!

This is what I see when I search in www.google.com for the words "geeta dutt"

I see our website as the first search result..

Strangely it is coming as no 12 on google.co.in here (which is higher than few days back). Once we get more hits we should be in top 2 everywhere. Perhaps there are more hits in the US so its higher there.

This is kind of surprising..I was thinking the Google search works the same way irresepctive of the location..looks like it is more targetted/specialized based on the region...

I hope its not bumped because of your personal searching patterns or past history by some artificial intelligence algorithms!
Try logging out of your google account and see if you get the same results

Yes, you are right, once I logged out of my gmail account, it is not showing our site as the first search result

HB, now I see our site www.geetadutt.com as the fifth result (after logging out from my gmail account)

So there is some progress now compared to when I checked last 2 weeks ago

Checked our website www.geetadutt.com on Apple macbook using the Safari browser. Its working absolutely fine. I was kind of concerned if it will have some issues on non-windows operating systems..

Just finished readin all the pages on this thread.
It was unfortunate that I left b4 this site was launched and wasn't able to catch a glimpse of it while away. When I did finally see it, I was simply in awe! It has come together so nicely. It looks just great. All thanks goes to the Geeta Dutt team. Without their efforts and hard work this wouldn't have been possible.

Anu, yes a lot of things happened between the time you left for your vacation and by the time we launched the site. Especially at the last minute, we did not have any one to actually "launch" the site. With Subir bhai gone to Kolkota on his pre-planned vacation, our developer falling sick and getting hospitalized it was virtually impossible for us to activate the site on 23rd November. By grace of God, Ritu, who has launched a site on S D Burman sahab and helped me a lot in this project was online. She did the needful and we were able launch the site the right time. I am sure you have heard about her, she is a very active member on RMIM and a great Burmanda fan.

Dear Paragji,
I hugely respect your work on both the threads on Geetaji.
I visited the site on the day it was inaugurated, out of curiosity.
Today I took a leisurely stroll around the site.
In one word - Beautiful
A fitting tribute to the Diva.
In fact I got infatuated with Geetaji's voice, after hearing an old HMV cassette containing a Bhajan.
I have lost that casette & do not even remember the words.
But the silken voice is embedded in my memory.
New Year Greetings & more power to your elbow.
