Rajnish

I found 3 songs from Rami Dhoban in my laptop for now

Sakhi ri mori tike na nazariya - Geeta Dutt
Kanan More Shyaam Rang Ghole Kaun - Geeta Dutt (solo)
Sau baras par - Geeta Dutt, Hemant Kumar

All got from HF itself and in good audio quality.

I will check my desktop later in the evening if I have the songs you are looking for.

Cheers
Parag

Thanks parag for uploading the songs esp from the movie yahudi ki ladki.
There was a 1933 movie of the same name (i have sehgal's songs from that movie. If someone wants them do let me know).
Was this movie a remake of it by any chance or just a namesake?
Keep up the good work.

You are most welcome Dhallji
It would not be appropriate for me to upload K L Sehgal songs on the Geeta Dutt forum. Hence i have uploaded them to an old topic on the K L Saigal forum.
You can get them there. Hope you like them.

HB, I think it will be a good idea if we can come up with 2 lists
1) Duets/trio songs of Geeta ji with Hemant da
2) Songs sung by Geeta ji with Hemantda as composer (excluding the songs in list 1)

This thread will be a good thread on all the songs of Geeta ji with and/or for Hemantda.

Thanks HB for the song from Police..very melodious number.
And mahesh..thanks for the song Oh baby...from Police. Interesting to read about the controversy regarding copy right. I learnt from another site about so many songs which were replicas of some western songs... smile.gif

"Bad artists copy. Great artists steal."
-- Pablo Picasso

American's didn't complain about copyright when they were stealing from
Brits. and When Brits were stealing from Indians. For example
Parcheesi is an American adaptation of the Indian Cross and Circle game Pachisi.
Cotton Gin was rework of device used in India for hundreds of year.
I can give more example if you don't know.

R&D..I never meant what i said in a derogatory way...After all Americans doesnt have anything of thier own..not even a Culture. smile.gif So please let us not compare with them.
We gave Zero to the world..not say about Vedas et al.
When I heard Saleel Da's Itna na mujh se pyar badha...and then saw him on TV saying that he took the inspiration from Mozart...I went after Mozart.. After all Music is universal.
Now, lets not even talk about Copy Right...We dont have one. And honestly we dont need one.

I am not sure about the veracity of this allegation that HemantK landed in trouble due to copyright issues related to the "Oh Baby"/"Oh Bernadine" song. Parag, who mentioned this controversy on this forum himself cannot verify it, saying that he "heard it somewhere". Personally, I have come across several "heard it somewhere"s, much like the rest of us have. Examples of these "heard it somewheres" include

-"Singer A did not sing the word "raam" in any song because it was irreligious for him" - Proved to be untrue
-"Singer B converted to religion R to get married" - Very likely to be untrue, also nobody's business even if B did.
-"Singer C (female from '50s) was having an affair with male singers D, E, F" - Unprovable, but nobody's business
-"Singer G poisoned and killed singer H" - Unprovable, so better not spread it.

IMO, none of these contain an iota of truth and serious music lovers better refrain from repeating them while associating singers' names.

Coming to Hemant's alleged copyright violation: Around 1959, it was rumored that Hemant was banned because he had ripped off a tune from an English movie in a Bengali film song released in 1959, [which was 2 years after Police (1957).] Hemant referred to this incident in his autobiography and wrote that he had gone on an overseas tour in 1959-60 for several months and could not do stage shows in India during this period. When he came back to India, he heard that some mischievous people had spread a rumor that Hemant had been banned in India because he had stolen a Western tune and had left for a foreign country. Hemant wrote (something along these lines) that although he found this rumor harmful, he was a bit amused by the fact that these mischief mongers would not let a single chance to malign someone go by.

Finally, Police('57) was not the first instance nor the last instance, when Hemant looked at another composer's tune for inspiration - and this is provable.
