For me, the song "Tujhe doo main kya, yeh tuhi bataa" is one of the most beautifully rendered duet. I just love the flow and richness of this song. Hemantda and Geeta ji perfectly compliment each other in this (and most of their songs).

If it was not for HF, I would have never got to listen to this hidden gem of a song. Once again many thanks to HF and all the great music lovers who willingly share such melodies.

We can always keep chasing after the songs which we do not have in our collection, but at times I love to cherish such beautiful songs and be truly happy about it.

The voice of Geeta ji is so sincere and filled with true emotions when she sings the line "Joh maanga woh malik ne tujh ko diyaa".

This reminds me of another song, though in Bengali. In the song "Nishi raat baanka chand" she says

e jeebon-e jotoe tuku cheyechhi,
mon boley aaro beshi peyechhi

(Whatever I might have wanted from life, my heart knows that I have been given so much more..)

These lines coming from a singer, whose personal life was anything but troubles, is kind of an inspiration for mortals like us.

We need to learn to be happy and content with what we have been given!

Just my feelings!

Hildrebrand and Parag,

Thanks for the Insaaf Kahan Hai songs; never knew about these songs.

Exon

You are most welcome Exon. Glad you like them.
Request you to upload the geeta-hemant duet version of Hey Babu Hey Bandhu available with you. I haven't heard that one.

So with your post, we have four songs from the movie:-
Hey babu hey bandhu - Geeta Dutt (Solo version)
Hey babu hey bandhu - Geeta Dutt, Hemant Kumar (Duet version)
Tujhe Doon Main Kya Yeh Tu Hi Bata - Hemant Kumar,Geeta Dutt
Ja chhup nazaron se kya - Geeta Dutt

There usually used to be 5-6 songs in the movies. I also would like to know if there are any other songs in that movie.

HB

Firstly thanks for your positive comment on my previous post. It was something which came straight from the heart..

Now, I am not sure if Exon meant to say that he has a duet of Hemantda and Geeta ji. I think the audio he has is a Hemant Kumar version (another tandem..!) of the same song with chorus.

We will have to wait till we get clarification from Exon, but I think we have found another Geeta - Hemant tandem. And what a song it is ! The words are so true even after decades have passed since the song was recorded..

Duniya badi bewafaa, sambhal ke chalnaa ji..

Very true Parag. Lets see his response. Exon ji upload whatever version it is solo hemant tandem or duet.
Any idea, why the movie Insaaf Kahaan Hai did not release?
The movie which had such good music deserved to be released. "Insaaf Kahaan Hai?!" I ask.

Parag,

I had labeled the audio as Hemant, chorus. I could not find a recognizable female voice among chorus singers. Most likely, you already have this audio. Our dear member Faizel is very much in our mind. Hope he gets well soon and resumes his active life again.
I have posted the song at the following link.

5) 1949-raat ki rani-us chand se pyare chand ho tum-hansraj behl * (with Mukesh)
*later this song was re-recorded as lata-rafi duet.
6) 195?-insaf kahan hai-tujhe doon mein kya-robin banerji (with Hemant Kumar)
7) 195?-insaf kahan hai-he babu he bandhu-robin banerji (with Hemant Kumar)
8) unreleased-shahzadi-chunnilal tera bura haal-s d batish (with Pandit S D Batish)

Thanks Mahesh

Mahesh and other knowledgable members,

On another thread dedicated to songs of Geeta ji for Salilda, Abhay has mentioned that this song does not seem to feature the voice of Geeta ji. He has read it somewhere that the female singer is Sabita Choudhary (is she related to Salida ?)

Here is the link to that post

http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=563849

Can some one confirm this ?

Thanks

Hi Exon

Many thanks for this Hemantda version. I am not sure if I had it earlier or not, but I downloaded it anyways.

Now strictly IMHO, once again , Geeta Dutt version is more appealing than the male version. (Just like other tandem songs featuring Geeta Dutt).

The Hemantda version has different stanzas compared to the female version.

Also I hear a few alaaps in between and suspect that they are of Geeta ji.

Thanks
Parag

HB, please refer to this post by Abhay

http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=563849

There is one more song "teena tan taa teena" sung by Geeta Dutt and Manna Dey in 'Tangewali' (1955). The song 'Teena tan taa teena' by Geeta and Manna, although in the film was never released in any record. Unfortunately it's one of those films which is nearly impossible to get to see anymore and neither a VHS is available which could be the only source to get the song.

So we have found another song that got hit!

Sabita Choudhary is the wife of Salil Choudhary. She was Sabita Banerjee before marriage. She cut a lot of version songs in the 1950s.

So what is your opinion on the female voice in this song "Gul khile ya na khile" from the film "Raat ki Uljhan" ? To me, it does not sound like Geeta ji's voice.3

Excellent thread buddy. One song which immediately comes to my mind is "Rut phire par din hamare" a Geeta Dutt masterpiece which got deleted from the classic Pyaasa.

Also we can add these 2 short songs from Pyaasa, which did not get released on any records (AFAIK)

1) Ho lakh museebat raste mein (with Rafi sahab)
2) Phir na kije meri gustakh nigahi ka gila - Verse

These 2 can be found only on the film soundtrack.

Parag,

That means, the two line verse in Pyaasa became a full duet in Phir Subhah Hogi. Thanks for reminding.
