Gulzar Want to share some of this Genius' works, friends. ----- Starting with 'Sunset Point' - The Album http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?act=...4785&st=45# Thanks you KK, for this thread. Just yesterday I was checking out Gulzar's works and thought of starting a thread. Then remembered that such a thread had already been done (at least) once before. So was wondering what different touch could be given. Apart from uploading songs, can we do something additional? Like understanding those parts of the lyrics that don't make complete sense at the outset, or express more meanings than just one? Just an idea... Self - belief is the most potent force.

Madhavi, how about you taking up the posting of lyrics of any song posted here? hope i can do that mandy ... gulzar, jo sadaa meri kavita ko prernaa dete hain. here it goes: 1. Raah Pe Rehte Hain: Raah pe rehte hai, yaadon pe basar karte hai Khush raho yehale watan hum to safar karte hai Jal gaye jo dhoonp mein to saayaa ho gaye Aasamaan kaa koi konaa, thodaa so gaye Jo gujar jaatee hain bas us pe gujar karte hai Udate pairo ke tale jab bahatee hain jameen Mud ke humane koee manjil dekhee hee nahee Raat din raahon pe hum shaama-o-sahar karate hai ---------------------------------- 2. Phirse Aaiyo Badra Bidesi: Phir se aaeeyo, badaraa bidesee Tere pankho pe, motee jadoongee Bhar ke jaaeeyo, humaaree talayyaa Mai talayyaa, kinaare miloongee Tujhe mere kaale kamaleewaale kee saundh Tere jaane kee rut main jaanatee hoo Mood ke aane kee reet hain ke nahee Kaalee daragaa se poochhoongee jaa ke Tere man mein bhee pareet hain ke nahee Kachchee puliyaa se, ho ke gujareeyo Kachchee puliyaa kinaare miloongee Too jo ruk jaaye, meree atareeyaa Mai atareeyaa pe, zaalar lagaa doo Daaloo chaar taabeej gale se Apane kaajal se, bindeeyaa lagaa doo Chhoo ke jaaeeyo, humaare bagiche Mai pipal ke aade miloongee -------------------------- hope it works fine. from the very recent works, i just love his "tere bina" from guru. Jo Milte hain, voh nahi milte
Aur Jo Nahi Milte, Vohin Vaastav mein milte hai Kaaran jo hai, voh nahi hai Aur jo nahi hai, vohin hai. Ye keval Shabdo ki heraa-pheri nahi hai Aur heraa-pheri hain bhi Yehin Darshan hai Aur isi hone naa hone, milne naa milne ke beech mein maayaa kaa samudra hai |

Lol..saara nahi... let us share. Everytime a song is uploaded, let us choose whether we want to upload the lyrics. If you don't, I will. Chalega?
I know it can be a rather tedious job (I've done it on the marathi forum in the past, and Lata was kind enough to take up that part later. I'd then provide the translations). Commentary, of course, is everybody's job Self - belief is the most potent force.

Thank you Nature. Gorgeous gorgeous song... the woman romancing nature... "badra bidesi..." Gulzar on a huge nostalgia trip about forgotten images of the village... "tujhe mere kaali kamli wale ki sondh" "daalun char tabeez gale par" "kachhi puliyan" "talaiyan kinare" "peepal ke aade" , "main atariya pe jhalar laga doon" ... err does anyone even bother to do this any more in our use and throw age??? Yes I love that... Can someone explain exactly what "kali kamliwale" means...
Okay just checked it out, have always wondered.. Kamli coat: A coat made from a coarse woolen blanket which, patched innumerable times, Meher Baba wore almost continuously over a period of years; now on display in the Museum Room on Meherabad Hill. In the "Yashomati Maiyya" song... it refers to Krishna... Interesting.... Gulzar seems to have deliberately used cultural images that haze the boundaries between Hindu and Muslim religious practices... "Kali dargah" "kali kamli wale" ... "ataria pe jhalar" ... "This isn't right, this isn't even wrong." Wolfgang Pauli (1900-1958) "There are no facts, only interpretations." Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) |
