Could ANYONE upload the 'Shama' (1946) numbers of Shamshad with Ghulam Haider, especially "ek tera sahara"? I would be ETERNALLY grateful to anyone who would do so.

Balaji...Shams Lucknavi was also the other lyricist of the movie.
As far as I remember (have to again see it to confirm), shamim was
the name of the heroine Mehtab in the
movie shama. In olden days the records bore the film name of the heroine
and not of the singer that may be the reason that you have kept the name
shamim in your records. There are 7 paras of this song sung by shamshad
begum. 4 were on two sides of the 78 rpm and 4 in the movie. One is common
in both.

Thanks a lot for your great uploads, Balaji. bow.gif , 'Ik yaad kisi ki yaad rahi' is such a lovely song, I was looking this since long time. tongue1.gif Following is a quotation from an article about Ghulam Haider:
"The soundtrack of ‘Shama’ was notable for a dexterous use of tabla in such songs as “gori chali piya ke desh”, “hum gharibon ka bhi pura kabhi armaan kar de” and “ik tera sahara”. As Naushad put it, “the tabla spoke the words”. When the husband in the film who cannot forget his dead wife, sings “ik yaad kisi ki yaad rahi aur saari duniya bhool gaye”, his second wife counters “ik yaad kisi ki yaad rahi kyon saari duniya bhool gaye”. The simple change of ‘aur’ to ‘kyon’ conveyed their separate feelings."

And this is my contribution in this thread, a rare song of Shamshad Ji, from 'Chal chal re naujawaan' (1944)

Enjoy! smile1.gif

The records (Columbia) of Shama did not give names of the poets.
Both the record and the movie have five paras. The
words of para 4 and 5 in the movie differ with para
4 and 5 of the record, making up 7 paras in total.
Para 1 and 2 were jointly written by Ehsan Rizvi and
Shamim but the remaining three were written by Ehsan
Rizvi alone.
