Vinod (Vinod Khanna) a respected business man, his wife Meena (Shabana Azmi), and their son make a happy family. But one particular day, Meena receives a letter from a former colleague of Vinod's which accuses him of being a murderer. Though she did remember a murder that happened some time back in Vinod's workplace, she dismisses the letter as absurd. But slowly she realises that at the time of the murder there were some disturbing incidents involving Vinod for which he had no explanation. Neither to the time when he came home in blood stained clothes, nor to his overnight success post the event and sudden acquisition of wealth. The thought of Vinod being a killer keeps nagging her.
