Your uploads always set me off thinking in myriad directions. Was looking up some reviews on Daayra, have always wanted to see the movie, it is an unusual one about the relationship between a transvestite(Nirmal Pandey) and a cross-dresser who is a rape victim. Have you seen it? I remember how wonderful his early film Thoda Sa Romani Ho Jaye was, which had Nana Patekar in a great role as a charlatan rain-maker who still brings hope. Wish such movies were more easily accessible here. Apparently, Chitra Palekar had a hand in writing the script of Daayra, which took me to another article on her. She is making a film (or has it been released already?), Maati Mein based on the short story of Mahashweta Devi which sounded very interesting too.

U know Madhavi there is one more lovely song in this movie sung by Hariharan and Jaspinder.. 'Ek main aur ek tu... Siti Ki surili guftagu'... Its a FANTASTIC number... Hope u know!!! Really, I had seen the movie in METRO theater... I really want to see both 'Thodasa rumani ho jaye' once again and 'Daayra' movie... Do u want the title song of 'Thodasa Rumani ho jaye'??
Yes please do, Omkar. I had actually got the vcd of Thoda Sa Rumani Ho Jaye this time from India, when I opened the packet, turned out the plastic had stuck to the discs spoiling them. Don't know if it was like that from before or all that travelling did that. 
So please do upload that song...would love to hear it. TIA

Daayra maine release hone ke kuchh dino baad hi dekhi thi. Vinod Bhardvaj ke ek review ne mujhe kheech kar hall me pahoocha diya tha jahan mere alawa mushqil se dus log aur maujood the. Ek sensible film box office par audhe muh gir padi thi. Ye hal ek aisi film ka tha jo us saal ke Time magazine ki Top Ten Films ki list me thi. 'Thoda Sa Romani Ho Jaye' maine dekhi nahin. Amol ki direct ki huyi jo filmen maine dekhi hain unme sabse achchi mujhe 'Kairee' lagti hai. Jisme ek dus saal ki ladki ke sapanon aur haqiqat ke saath uski jaddojahad ko Amol ne ek poet ki-si khubsoorti se parde par jinda kar diya tha.

My local dvd/grocery store wala actually has a lonely copy of Kairee amongst the numerous copies of the latest releases he has on display. Have been intending to get it for a while...ab to dekhna padega Did not really enjoy his "Paheli", I think it got far too glamorous for a village tale...despite its interesting theme.
P.S. Is Anjvajay your actual name? Just plain curious...

Vijaydan Detha ki jis kahani(Duvidha) par Paheli bani thi usi par 1973 me Mani Kaul ne 'Duvidha' banayi thi.
Mani ka treatment mujhe kahin jayada behater lagta hai, Amol 'Paheli' me mainstreem cinema ke dabaw me dikhte hain.
Aur raha naam to mai ek baar aur is swaal se badi muskil se jaan chhuda kar bhaga tha:

Madhavi, I love the lyrics of 'Thodas Roomani' song. But accprding to me the singers have NOT done proper justice to the song. I think the male voice is Vinod Rathod. Such a lovely tune but hear the place 'Thodasa roomani HO jaye' which is sung by Vinod Rathod... He is completely out of SUR.. I would prefer the female (rather its the BEST) and Chorus versions of the song..
What do u guys think?

Was just revisiting my Thoda Sa Romani Ho Jaaye album after seeing your post. It is a very very different album for 1991 with lot of conversations that blends into the songs and vice versa. If anyone is interested I'll put up those tracks here.

Yes Omkar, just got around to hearing the songs. The male voice is too nasal and the stress on "ho" but in the female version the stress is on "Roomani" ... and she is very much in control. Who is the singer? My vcd does not list it on the cover.

I strongly feel he is VINOD RATHOD (VR). VR always spoil the song in the process of imitating Kishore Kumar's voice!! And thats why I nornally dont like his songss!!
