The Indian women hockey team can keep their heads up with honor after a great fight in the final of the C'th games. In contrast the men's hockey that has being in decline for over a decade continues to embarass us by their sub-standard performances.

The craze of cricket has taken the attention away from our national sport, a sport where we have a tradition and a great past. So who has to take the blame? Everyone points the finger at IHF, although they are responsible but to blame them entirely is unfair.

The players have to take the blame too for their misconceptions and arrogance. I saw the interview of the Indian hockey captain before a game they played a few months back against Australia where he made a fool of himself by saying that they have an advantage over the Australian hockey team as the Australians do not have the natural talent that they posess. With this kind of ignorance and arrogance I don't see much light at the end of the tunnell, btw we were drubbed 4 -0 by the Australian team in that game.

Its time that the players and the IHF open their eyes to the real world otherise continue to face the humiliation and embarss us and our great tradition of hockey.
