"Ameerbai Karnataki was a very talented 'Singing Actress' of the yesteryears.
She was born in a village 'Bilgi' in district 'Bijapur' of 'Karnataka' state
on 19th Feb. 1912. Her elder sister Gouharbai was a leading film actress of that time.
Naturaly Ameerbai, who could sing well, got a chance in films. She first acted in
a 1934 film Vishnubhakti. After that she acted in many film like Narsi Bhagat, Sardar etc. Around 41/42 she started giving plaback in the films. MD Anil Biswas has given
her a chance in Basant (42) and then in Kismat (43) which was a big hit. Her success
continued with films like Bhartrahari, Caravan, Amrapali, Shikari, Aath Din, Leela, Sindoor etc. till Lata Era. She had also given music to a 1948 film Shehnaz. After
1950/51 she slowly disappeared from hindi films but was singing in Gujarathi and
Marwadi films. She died on 7th March 1965. "

You ppl are perfectly right as far as HFGK is concerned.
But I have 3 points to say.

1. If you recognise Ameerbai's voice there should not be any
doubt that she only sang these songs. I have all Basant songs and even though
the recording is from TV, we can easily make out the difference between
the voices of Ameerbai & Parul Ghosh.

2. Though on main page hfgk credited Basant songs to Parul Ghosh,
the corrigenda at the end ( film no 86 ie Basant song no 2-AmeerArun
song no 6-Ameerbai) rightly given the credit to Ameerbai. There we can confirm
two of Basant songs.

3. The third 'Black Out' song is from my audio cassette where 24 Ameerbai only songs are transfered. I know, this can't be the confirmation, but if you carefully listen, particularly the 2nd staza, its hard to say that this isn't Ameerbai's song.
However, I don't have any other confirmation and we will have to wait till some kind sole of the forum confirms it. ok

She seems very graceful in the photograph and in her younger days she could have given a lot of inferiority complex to leading ladies of 30's. Although her acting career was dominated by mythologicals and in her later days, roles of typical Indian mother. She was one of those who combined good looks with fantastic singing ability. And although, I am not aware of movies, other than Shehnaz (1948), for which she composed music but that one musical score alone demonstrates that she was a very fine music composer. Wonder whether anyone can upload her "Aye Nigah - e - Yaar Tera Shukriya" and that great Rafi solo (can't remember the lyrics at the moment).

I can surely tell you that this is a partial song from Narsi Bhagat (1940) in which she was a singing star. I have the complete song, which is a duet of hers with then singing star Durga Khote Ji, and starts with Durga Ji's 'Deen Dayal Sakal Dukh Bhanjan'. The words you have said are the beginning of the Amirbai Ji part. I can upload the complete version I have if required.

Another confirmation from my side that the 2 Basant songs are by Amirbai Ji. Actually, Parul Ghosh Ji sang for only the heroine Mumtaz Shanti Ji. The great Pannalal Ghosh Ji usually used this format in his films:
1. Heroine's singer: Parul Ghosh Ji - his wife
2. Main male singer (for hero as well): Arun Kumar Ji
3. Other female singer (side women, dancers, vamps, etc.): Amirbai Ji
