actor Pran, 92, is in hospital

Mumbai, Nov 19 (IANS) Veteran actor Pran, 92, is in hospital but there is no cause for worry, a spokesperson of the Lilavati Hospital here said Monday.

Pran is hospitalised here. He was admitted on Friday. He is here for just a routine checkāˆ’up and is doing fine, Suhir Dagaonkar told IANS.

I can't talk about his discharge dates right now. But he is fine, said Dagaonkar.

Pran, the quintessential villain in movies like Brahmachari, later went on to expand his repertoire in films like Zanjeer, Karz and Don.

Pran Saheb is fine Amitabh Bachchan

Category: Masala Published on Wednesday, 21 November 2012 06:23 Written by Kiran Arora Ever since veteran actor Pran was hospitalized earlier this week, there were rumours that he is critical. However one of the first people to dismiss those rumour mongers was Amitabh Bachchan.

Big B, who has acted with Pran in many iconic films, visited the ailing actor and tweeted, "Paid a visit to Pran Saheb in hospital. He is fine. Spent an hour with him joking and talking of times past and present. All those making speculative remarks on Pran Saheb being critical...Get your facts right before going public... most irresponsible"

On his blog Bachchan further spoke about the greatness of Pran and reminisced old times by writing, "A true professional, an earnest colleague, a gentleman and in possession of an elephants memory on some of the most incredible 'shairi' of the times gone by. Irrespective of the heavy makeup that he wore on most of his films - the heavy false beards and wigs interpreting various characters that he played - he was always the first on set and never left it to get back to his room. He would sit quietly after his shot was over, in the heat of the studio, with gentle demeanor, throughout the shift, leaving only after the 'pack up' sound. His innovations in designing different characters for himself and spending hours in getting those hair and sticky pieces together was absolutely amazing. On outdoor schedules, he was a delight to spend time with - his daily evening drink and his numerous anecdotes and knowledge of urdu poetry. This evening too he is filled with those numbers and at 92, god bless him, has not lost any of his sense of humour and humility."
