(Raaj) Police Public (1990)
Vijay Patil, popularly known as Raam Laxman, gave music to only a handful of movies. His biggest hits were "Hum Aap Ke Hai Kaun? (1994)" and "Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999)". After these resounding successes one expected more but for some unknown and curious reasons he more or less went into oblivion. One of his earlier films that he composed music in 1990 was this one, "Police Public". It has only four songs but most of them are good. Here are these songs from an original soundtrack album and some musical clips from a DVD... Attached image(s) |

(Amitabh) Ram Balram (1980)
Director Vijay Anand took the hit team of Dharamendra & Amitabh who gave "Sholay (1975)" and brought this action packed thriller. Several songs from the film also became popular. It also included a song with both Zeenat and Dharam in buff (very embarrassing to look at) and a romantic song between Rekha and Amitabh. Expectations were high that this movie will fly and create all sorts of box-office history. Yet it managed to be only a moderate success. I am uploading all songs from an original soundtrack album in two back-to-back posts. Here is a description of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves... Attached image(s) |

(Raaj) Saudagar (1991)
The main feature of this lavishly produced movie was that Dilip Kumar and Raaj Kumar were acting together after 32 years. The only movie they acted together was Gemini's huge hit "Paigham (1959)." They played brothers in that movie with Dilip having the major share of the role. Besides these two thespians there were a host of others including two newcomers in this film. Manisha Koirala and Vivek Mushran were introduced in this film. Manisha went onto make herself a good name but Mushran’s acting stint was short lived. The story attributed to the producer and director Subhash Ghai was another rehash of Shakespearean tragedy “Romeo and Juliet.” There was nothing novel about the movie even though it was shot in beautiful locales in India and was helped by excellent photography. Dilipji looked overweight, a very puffed look. In general one expects very restrained and consummate performance from him, and he looked very much overly dramatic in the interpretation of his role. Because of the anticipated high expectations, the movie hardly scored points except in the areas already mentioned, plus possibly music. Originally I didn’t care for these songs, may be because I didn’t care for the movie itself, but they tend to grow on you. LP does a credible job here. In the end one leaves with the feeling after watching this lengthy movie that this beautiful canvas had a splash of lovely colors adorning it but represents a wasted effort on retreaded and rehashed subject. I am uploading these songs in two back-to-back posts. Here are the details of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves… Attached image(s) |
