Songs of "Bewafa (1952)"

This is another movie starring Nargis and Raj Kapoor. Incidentally, Talat Mahmood was the voice of Raj in this movie also. This is the third movie released in 1952 that had Talat lending his voice to Raj (other two being “Anhonee” and “Ashiana”).

Now for the details of the songs and the songs themselves …

SP,

There was some discussion about the singer of 'aajaa na mere dilruba'. The singer is most probably Sandhya Mukherjee.

Thank you for the info Exon. Should I go ahead and make this change like you have suggested? Or, should I wait for someone else to autheticate this? -S

(Madhubala) Shirin Farhad (1956)

For the few films he worked on, the maestro Mohiner Saab provided some unforgettable music. The case in point is this album. It has every song very beautifully composed. I am uploading all of the songs. Most of these songs came from different CD collections. Others were contributed by the Forum members. Thank you.

I will upload all songs from the film in the first post. In the second post, I am uploading some extended versions. Even though most songs are of very good quality, you may find on occasion a skip here and a skip there. But this in no way diminishes the beauty of these songs or the overall quality of this album.

Now for the details of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ...

(Madhubala) Naqab (1955)

This movie starred Madhubala & Shammi. Madhubala was at the height of her romance with Dilip Kumar during this time. In a recent journal interview, Shammi fondly recalls those times and adds that when they were shooting this film in Pune at the Prabhat Studios, Dilip used to come from Mumbai to visit with Madhubala on her sets. He recalls another occasion when Dilip was shooting for Gemini's "Insaaniyat" in Madras. It was Eid time and Dilip took a break from shooting to flew in to Mumbai particularly to spend the festive time with Madhubala.

Pt. Govind Ramji who composed the music for this film had only few films to his credit but does a great job here. I am uploading five songs here but it appears like I may be missing several songs. It could be as many as seven more. If indeed this is true and if you happen to have any of the missing songs, please kindly share with rest of us. Thank you.

Here are the songs I have ...

Hi SP
here is one of the missing songs

(Meena) Memsahib (1956)

You won't find too many albums where Lata didn't sing a song for Madan Mohan Saab. This is one of them. In this album Asha sings all except one song, four solos and two duets. The one exception is the solo by Kishoreda, "Dil Dil Se Milakar Dekho", a real beauty.

I am uploading these songs in two back-to-back posts. Here is a description of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ...

Not Madan Mohan's finest moment! This song was a pretty blatant lift of a Sinatra song from that period called The Isle of Capri.

Seshadri

The three best songs of Neki Aur Badi are:

Old Filmi - 1949 Neki Aur Badi - Amirbai - Chand Hansa Akash Pe-roshan 128kbps 2m 42s (the standout - one of Roshan's best from the early years)

Old Filmi - 1949 Neki Aur Badi - Rajkumari - Humein Bhane Lage-roshan 185kbps 3m 15s

Old Filmi - 1949 Neki Aur Badi - Amirbai - Mere Chail Chabile-roshan 128kbps 3m 16s
