(Madhubala) Rail Ka Dibba (1953)

In this album there is a duet by Gandhari and Rafi Saab. It is a very nice song. I don't know much about Gandhari and would like to learn more about her. Anyone can enlighten? Thanks in anticipation.

Here are the songs from this album ...

(Meena) Ilzaam (1954)

It is amazing that I am finding some albums by Madan Mohanji that have Asha Bhosle as the principal singer whereas his favorite singer Lata is absent or relegated to second fiddle. This album is an example. I am uploading songs from this movie, all by the courtesy of the Forum members. Thank you. It appears that I may be missing one more song from this album, shown in red italics in the table below. If indeed this is the case, and if you can share this mssing one, please kindly share. Thanks.

Now for the songs of this album ...

(Nargis) Hulchul (1951)

This album is a beauty. It has two music directors; Sajjad Hussain and Mohd. Shafi. Hussain Saab composed music for three songs. Rest of the songs were all composed by Shafi Saab. Lata's song "Aaj Mere Naseeb Ne" composed by Hussain is considered to be one of the greatest songs he composed, a classic. But other songs in the movie, including several fine duets of Lata and Rafi Saab also stand out.

This movie was loosely based on Emily Bronte's novel "Wuthering Heights". The novel was made into a movie in all languages of the world, many times over. In Hindi itself, it was made into a movie three times. This one and another one, also starring Dilip, "Dil Diya Dard Liya (1966)", and Rajesh Khanna's "Oonche Log (1985)" are the three Hindi versions.

The story of "Hulchul" was credited to Balraj Sahni, who had an important acting assignment in the movie. The movie was directed by K. Asif, later to become a household name with the epic "Mughal-E-Azam (1960)".

Ironically Sahni, who plays a jailor in the movie, was under arrest for his Marxist activities associated with the organization, IPTA. The Government of India has to give him special permission to continue shooting for the movie. The police has to escort him to the sets, and after the shoot take him back to the jail.

The IPTA (Indian Peoples' Theatre Association) was established in 1943 by various artistes including , K.A. Abbas, Balraj Sahni, Kaifi Azmi, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Prithviraj Kapoor, Ritwik Ghatak, Sahir Ludhianvi, Salil Chowdhury, Utpal Dutt and others. Its major objective was to bring awareness among the people of India through theatre as an applied art that can build social consciousness and lead to national integration. It was formed as the Second World War looming its ugly head and when the Great Bengal Famine of 1943 was threating the very fragile fabric of an entire state with the indifference of British rulers to these and other problems. Formed in 1943, as the membership in the association surged, its activities spread all over India. It performed many plays illuminating the plight of common folks. These plays came in all regional languages. Soon after India gained its independence from the British rule, in 1947 the group was disbanded. However, even till today, a few remanants of the organization still persist, mostly in Bengal.

I am uploading all songs from this album in two back-to-back posts. All songs are by the courtesy of the Forum members. Thank you.

Now for the first set of songs ...

SP,

Manna Dey:
(yeh duniya hai kaanton ka ghera ...)
yeh jag rain baseraa bandhe, naa teraa, na meraa
chhadtaa suraj, dhalti chhaaya, jogi waala teraa

There are no missing songs in your list.
The line 'yeh duniya hai kaanton ka ghera' is supposed to be starting line for the other song by Manna Dey.
None of the audios posted so far have this starting line.
