uploaded version is ....2.28

On long playing record, the version released was of about 3.17 length.

At 1.04 to 1.06 of that version, one needs to listen carefully.

A very rare phenomenon happened.

Maheshji, please upload that version! rolleyes.gif

Not clear what the rare phenomenon is but here is the 3m 20s version...

(Meena) Madhosh (1951)

Here is one of the early albums of the incomparable Madan Mohan. It probably was his second album. Lata Mangeshkar dominates this album with six solos out of nine songs. This is how the great partnership of Lataji and Madan Mohan Saab, Lataji used to call him "Madan Bhayya", started. It has led to some of the greatest compositions of Mohanji and some of the sweetest songs of Lataji that probably will be perennially remembered for their heart rendering melodies.

There is a song in this album by a singer named Chand and I don't believe I have heard too much of. This probably is the only one. Talat Saab has a great song, a ghazal, "Meri Yaad Mein", sung in his inimitable style with that silken voice he was famous for.

Here are all of the songs from this beautiful album ...

I am skeptical about "chand" being the singer of song no.2.
Nor is the male voice in the last song of G.M. Durrani.

The male voice is probably S. D Batish. I think we had some discussion on HF about this where someone pointed out the Vishwas Nerurkar's book on Madan Mohan says he never worked with S D Batish, but all CDs, etc credit this song to him.

Also, Madan Mohan's site credits the Dhak Dhak song to Miss Chand (???)

Swarapriya

From memory, the only Lahore song you missed in your upload that stands out is Ek Aas Bandhaye Jaati Hai which I am uploading. The quality is ok but not CDQ.

For the other songs you uploaded, I do have CDQ 192kbps - 224kbps. If there is any specific song whose quality is poor, I can upload my version...let me know...

1949 Lahore - Lata - Ek Aas Bandhaye Jaati Hai-ss 3m 15s 128kbps mp3

Kind Regards
Faraaj

Hello Faraaj,

Thanks for the offer of better quality songs. For now, I will pass ...

Also, thank you for the song "Ek Aas".

Cheers,
Swarapriya

QUOTE(Aditya Pant @ Oct 3 2009, 07:02 PM) *

To the best of my knowledge Aziz Kashmiri was a lyricist. The MD for Sun Lo Sajan was Shyam Sunder, like other songs in the film. In fact the same tune was repeated by him a year later in the film Dholak in the Lata-Rafi duet - Aise Rasiya Ka Kya Aitbaar. Coincidentally, Aziz Kashmiri was the lyricist of the that song as well.

Of course, all the above is subject to correction. If at all, some 'Aziz' was the MD of these 2 songs, it would be Aziz Khan/ Aziz Hindi. Can someone with HFGK please confirm this?

BTW, the two remaining missing songs are:

- Hum Ne Circus Mein Naukri Kar Li - G. M Durrani
- Hum Jahan Mein Aaye Hai Aansoo Bahane - Karan Dewan

Request other members to upload the above songs.

Aditya

Thanks for the info, Aditya. -S

Correct.

All the songs of this movie were penned by Rajender Krishan except
sun lo sajan dil ki baat....which Aziz Kashmiri wrote.

Thanks for the confirmation. I will make appropriate changes to the table. Cheers. -S

Ok. She is Chand Bala (Mrs. Chand Agarwal). Her voice can be listened in the songs:

1. Mere dard e jigar ki har dhadkan manzil ka pataa batalaati hai...nausherwan e adil and
2. Bhaagvaan jaraa dheere bol, kya main ooncha bol rahaa hoon...sharda

The male voice is neither Durrani nor S.D. Batish. The singer is pretty old at the
time when he sang this song. Batish had a very crisp and sharp voice during that
time and was relatively much younger. Nerurkar is not correct in his book when
he says that Madan Mohan never worked with S. D. Batish. In the movie Ada (1951)
composed by Madan Mohan, the song ...sab kuchh karna par mat karna pyar..is sung
by S.D. Batish and Asha Bhosle.

I'm sorry I got all mixed up between G. M Durrani and S. D Batish. The CD I have (Shanshad Begum Golden Collection) credits this song to G . M Durrani. S Mahesh had earlier pointed out on another post that as per VN's book Madan Mohan never worked with G. M Durrani. And Madan Mohan's website credits this song to S D Batish.

So the question remains, who is the male singer in this song?

Thanks and regards
Aditya

Here are songs from this album. All female songs are by the great one, Noor Jehan. I am not sure about the singer of the songs "Ab Raat" and "Kyon Mann". It sounds like Rafi Saab. May be someone can verify this. Thanks.

Now for the songs of "Lal Haveli" ...

(Meena) Magroor (1950)

I don't have a single song from this Meena Kumari-starrer. Per EarthNet the following are some of the songs in the movie. If anyone of you have them or others from this movie, please share. Thanks.

SP,

I don't have the complete song listing for this movie. However, I found out from a post by S Mahesh that following two songs were composed by Sajjad Hussain.

1 tumhe baaghon mein sawan ke nazare yaad karte hain- Shamshad Begum
2 toot gaya, haaye toot gaya, woh saje mohabbat toot gaya-Rajkumari, Mohammad Rafi, Shamshad Begum (3:35 \ 128)

Rest were composed by Bulo C. Rani and Ram Panjwani.

Here is one of Sajjad Hussain's compositions.
