I am also including a special version of the song "Tora Mann Darpan Kehlaaye". This has a beautiful introduction in praise of Asha by the music director Ravi himself. It is taken from the album "Legends: Asha Bhosle - The Enchantress (CD 2)". Here are these songs ... Attached image(s) ![]() |

(Hema) Prem Parbat (1973)
Jaidevji, a long time assistant to S.D. Burman, composed music for less than 40 movies. But whatever he composed it was beautifully melodious. He learnt well from Burmanda. Take for example songs from this album. There are only a few of them, but they all are very good. The most popular song from this album was "Yeh Dil Aur Unki Nigaahon Ke Saaye". But other songs by Lata are equally good. My favorite is Minu Purshottam's beauty "Raat Piya Ke Sang Jaagi Re Sakhi". Purshottamji didn't sing many songs in her career but whenever she got an opportunity she sparkled. It appears like I may be missing the song shown in red italics in the table below. If indeed this is the case, please kindly share. Thanks. Now for the sweetness ... This post has been edited by swarapriya: Mar 26 2010, 11:37 PM Attached image(s) ![]() |

(Mala) Bewaqoof (1960)
When Kishore and I.S. Johar get together it definitely is mayhem and chaos. This movie was written, produced, and directed by the irreverant Johar. They had Burmanda to assist with the songs that have a lot of zaniness in them. Even with this premise to work with, Burmanda mostly succeeds here. The same team of SD-Kishore-Majrooh (minus Johar) lent their talents earlier in 1958 for that classic comedy "Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi" with roaring success. Eventhough that movie had some slapstick comedy, it was more like an organized chaos compared with "Bewaqoof". All these songs are by the courtesy of the Forum members. Thank you. I am uploading these in back-to-back two posts. Here is the first set ... Attached image(s) ![]() |

Concluding Songs of "Bewaqoof (1960)" ... Here are the rest of the songs from this album ... Swarapriya, "tu hi piya chikaara" is actually "tu mi piyace cara, garsiya" which, in Italian, roughly means "I like you very much, thank you." ![]() This post has been edited by Saki: Mar 28 2010, 04:00 PM |
