song ~ Dil tere nashe men choor hua

singers ~ Mohd Rafi & Asha Bhonsle

what a beautiful Quwaali..............so romantic

ANT6

ANT6 Bhai, this song is so nice...

Can you please tell me the typical properties of QAWAALI songs, is it related to beating instruments or something else?

Bahut shukriya ANT yaar! (See I'm learning your language.)

Mere dost Kistin............... [mere dost means my friend]

I've posted it here as an interest to you

please check this site.........hope it helps

http://chandrakantha.com/articles/indian_music/kawali.html

Mohd Rafi sang many great quwaalis in films................he mostly teamed up with Manna Dey [male] or Asha Bhonsle [female] to sing them

you need to listen to filmi and non filmi quwaalis.................hope someone can explain a bit more here

The ultimate King of Quwaalis is NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN in my opinion..............past 15 odd years he produced magic...........he passed away few years back

I have taken following passage from "Chandra & David's Qawwali Page" (Thanks ANT6 bhai who provided me with this link)

One man who was inspired by the Hazrat Nizamuddin was Amir Khusru (1254-1324). He was born in Mominpur (Patiala). His father was originally from Turkey, this gave the young boy a broader exposure to the rest of the Islamic world. His father died when he was eight years old, whereupon the job of raising him fell to his maternal grandfather. Amir Khusru was a legendary musician, statesman and philosopher. It is said that he was the advisor to 11 rulers of Delhi, particularly the rulers of the Khilji Dynasty (Deva 1973:76).

Amir Khusru is so important to the development of qawwali that he is often (erroneously) said to be the inventor of it. It is said that he mixed the various musical elements from Turkey, greater Persia and India together. Even today, we find the curious mixture of Persian moqquams with Indian rags.

This means that we have cultural relations in Qawwali!

By the way, while surfing on the net, I found out that one of the best qawwalis is

Haan Yeh Maana Meri Jaan - Hanste Zakhm (1973) ... by Mohamad Rafi & Balbir

This one has been uploaded by theonlyq before, but unfortunately not there now.
Can some kind soul upload it again?

Thanks in anticipation,
Kistin

Mohd bhai, its kind of you to response so quickly with this nice song.

By the way, I'm confused by the different years and film names. theonlyq bhai has written before that it is from Hanste Zakhm (1973), whereas, from your post I understand that it is from Heer Ranjha (1970). Do I misunderstand something?

Thanks a lot ... bow.gif

The Song Ye Mana Meri Jaan is from the film Hanste Zakhm, picturised on Navin Nischal and Priya Rajvansh, music by Madan Mohan and lyrics by Kaifi Azmi.
