Next I am uploading the songs of Agar Tum Na hote (1983)

Plot: Photographer Raj Bedi (Raj Babbar) meets with attractive Radha (Rekha), both fall in love, and get married. Shortly after the marriage, Raj has an accident and is hospitalized. He does recover, but has no sensation in his legs and must be confined to a wheelchair. The cost of his treatment, in addition to the loss of his job, leads Radha to take up employment as a Governess to a small child, the only daughter of wealthy industrialist, Ashok Mehra (Rajesh Khanna). Raj is quite happy at this arrangement and looks forward to his treatment locally, and subsequently abroad. What he does not know that Ashok's deceased wife resembles Radha, that his daughter, Mini, thinks that Mom has finally returned home; and that this was prime reason that Radha was ever hired by Mehra and his associates. Will Radha take to the comfortable life as the wealthy Mrs. Mehra, in addition to getting a cute little daughter for her own self?


The movie has some good songs. The title song was of course a big hit in various versions. Actress Rekha also gets a song to sing which is not bad but didn't get popular as it got overshadowed by the title song. The same is true for the other two songs too.

Aaja meri Jaan

When Gulshan Kumar started this movie to launch his brother Kishen Kumar he entrusted R.D. Burman with the title song. Not many know that he's the MD for this song which became a big hit in S.P. Balasubramanium's voice.

The actress Tanya singh later tried as a pop singer as well. Her sister Samyukta Singh was the heroine of hit film Salaami. Their brother Raman Singh is a TV actor.

Ajanabee 1974

Ajanabee is a 1974 Hindi film produced by Girija Samanta and directed by Shakti Samanta. The film stars Rajesh Khanna, Zeenat Aman, Prem Chopra, Asrani, Madan Puri , Yogeeta Bali and Asit Sen. The films music is by R.D. Burman while the lyrics are by Anand bakshi sahab. The screenplay and story are by Gulshan Nanda. It was a musical hit.

Plot: Middle-classed young and dashing Rohit Kumar Saxena (Rajesh Khanna) falls in love with wealthy and lovely Reshmi, (Zeenat Aman) and both decide to get married. Reshmi's dad, the wealthy Diwan Sardarilal (Hari Shivdasani) is strongly opposed to this marriage, but relents when Reshmi refuses to marry anyone else. As a result, Rohit and Reshmi get married. Shortly after their marriage, Reshmi gets pregnant, news that is very well received. Then Reshmi enters a beauty pageant, and wins it - being crowned Miss India, with offers to travel abroad. Reshmi decides that she does not want the child now, but Rohit opposes this decision. Both quarrel, and separate, and Reshmi goes back to live with her dad. Shortly thereafter, Sardarilal sends a legal notice to Rohit asking for a divorce. Devastated, Rohit seeks employment, and finds it as a station master at a remote hill station. He meets with Reshmi and her dad, and is humiliated because he is poor. He decides to accumulate enough money to win back Reshmi's love, and decides to do it quickly. This decision results in his being arrested for stealing a suitcase full of jewelery and valuables, and he is also charged with killing the owner of the suitcase - a Miss Sonia. Looks like Rohit's dream of getting back together with his wife will remain unfulfilled during this lifetime

Plot: Illiterate, naive, and unrefined village belle Chandni (Tina Munim) had always dreamt of living in luxury, even if it means getting married to a much older man. She travels to Bombay, and after a series of misadventures, meets with rich and widowed Dr. Rana (Shashi Kapoor), and moves in with him. On the other hand is Neeraj (Rajesh Khanna), an aspiring, and unemployed singer, who will do anything to get some assignments. Neeraj meets with movie actress Sarita (Bindu), and she is impressed with his youth, and asks him to move in with her, which he does. Both Chandni and Neeraj think that their futures are now bright, but soon they will realize that that is not the case.

Alibaba Aur 40 Chor (1980)

Plot: Alibaba lives with his mother, an elder brother, Qasim, in a small village circa Mughal rule in Asia. His father is a merchant who has been gone for several years, and Alibaba does not even remember him. When news reaches them that his father has gone missing, Alibaba goes in his search and not only finds his father, but also rescues Shehzadi Marjina from Shamsher. Both Marjina and Alibaba fall in love with each other. Then they are attacked, Marjina is taken captive, and his father is killed. After burying his father, Alibaba finds out that Marjina is being sold in the slave market, he borrows money from Qasim, and uses that to pay for Marjina, and brings her home. Qasim wants to recover his money, and as a result decides to evict Alibaba from their family home. Alibaba and his mother leave the home. It is then the Khazi of the region announces a reward for the capture of notorious bandit Abu Hussain. Shortly, thereafter Alibaba comes to know the secret hideout of Hussain, gets some gold and jewelery from there, which he distributes amongst villagers for diverting some water to their parched land. Alibaba then informs the Khazi about Hussain's hideout. What Alibaba does not know is the Khazi and Hussain are one and the same person, and that the Khazi has given instructions to his men to ensure that Alibaba is killed, so that no one can get their hands on his treasure

Plot: Nandkishore Sharma alias Nandu is born in the Sharma family. His mother tragically passes away, leaving him in the care of his father who decides to re-marry a woman named Kamla. Kamla is not very kind to Nandu, who then seeks love and solace with a neighbor named Pushpa, who looks after him, feeds him, and even sings lullabies to get him to sleep. This does not auger well with Kamla, who severely beats up Nandu whenever she finds out that he has gone to meet Pushpa. Then his parents decide to move to another town, and Nandu tearfully bids farewell to Pushpa, but her love for him remains in his heart forever. Years later, Nandu has grown up, his parents have passed away, his siblings are settled independently, and he himself is married. He takes a nostalgic journey to the same town where he used to reside as a child, and rents a room in the same locality. He asks around for a woman named Pushpa, hoping that a lot of people would remember her for her kindness and love. He is shocked to find out that Pushpa not longer lives there - and no one remembers her for her love and compassion only as a - prostitute

All the songs are very good. A particularly good outing for the combination of R.D. Burman and Anand Bakshi. I especially love the S.D. Burman song and Kishore song Chingari koi bhadke which is a supremely melancholic ode to the cruelty and futility of life (and of grief about it), Chingare koi barhke (“If some ember bursts into flame [the rains will extinguish it]”), sung on a swaying boat being rowed along the night-lit Hooghly. It includes the beautiful and telling verse,

Don’t ask me how
The mansion of my dreams crumbled.
This saga wasn’t the work of outsiders,
But of those close to me.
If an enemy deals a blow,
Then a friend helps one recover.
But when a dear friend inflicts the wound,
Then who can heal it?

Plot:
Subhash Gaekwad is a worker employed in a mill run by Lal and partners. Lal does not pay his workers well, and they decide to go on an indefinite strike. Lal does not really care, and soon the strike turns ugly, with the police being involved. Subhash lives with his wife, and both have a small child. With no wages coming in, they are near destitution, and his wife takes to begging. One day, the leader of their union is mortally wounded, he approached Subhash and gives him a key, and then dies. Subhash comes to know that the key is of a locker, located in a Mosque. When he opens it, all he finds is an audio cassette, in which threats are made to kill the union leader, by Mill owner, Lal. Subhash puts this tape in a tape-recorder, and leaves it at a pawn shop. Lal and his men find out, and try to beat the truth out of Subhash, but Subhash does not tell them anything. They then have the police arrest him on false charges, and imprison him. Subhash's wife approachs Advocate Ashok Saxena, who takes the help of Akram to assist Subhash in prison, and to find out the truth, without knowing that Lal has also sent in his goon, to beat the truth out of Subhash. When Ashok finds out the truth, he confronts Lal, only to be told that Ashok's girlfriend, Kavita, is abducted and in their custody, and will be killed unless all information is turned over to him. Ashok does so, only to be himself entrapped, alongwith Kavita. And it is then that Ashok realizes that Lal will go to any extent to cover up his threats, even kill.


This movie has R.D. as MD with Nida Fazli as the lyricist. He also has Peenaz masani singing a song for him which is a very interesting one. You may have heard of many songs of the boy in love telling the girl not to go in front of others when feeling the jealousy. This song is in reverse!

The kishore, shailendra song is also an interesting song. One hero praises being in jail and the other refutes it! Finally for most of the song both are trying to go to jail. More of a scene turned into an interesting song like the experiment in Padosan, only this is so many years later!

Gopi is a simple-minded and honest individual who lives in a small town in India with his grandmother. When he finds out that he is being asked to sow opium in the fields instead of crops, he asks the other laborers to rally with him and force their employer to change his tactics, which results in his losing his job. He decides to go to Bombay city and try to re-establish his life. Upon arrival, he loses all his belongings, and ends up on the steps of a temple, being befriended by a young child who thinks Gopi is his dad. Gopi takes in the child and both try to find to make ends meet. Then one day Gopi is approached by an attractive young woman named Jyoti, who calls him "Johny" and asks him to perform some dance and music numbers in exchange of food, to which he agrees. Gopi does not know that by doing this he has opened up a Pandora's box for himself, and will soon be on the run, not only from the police, the Central Bureau of Investigation, but also from gangsters owing allegiance to the mighty international don named Supremo - who believes that Gopi has a stolen item worth millions

The movie has some good songs. I found the daddy tum aunti se pyar karte ho very unusual. In this song, a boy teases his father about how he loves auntie! The kid Vanita mishra does most of the singing and has done a good job.
