Aag (1948)

Here is the film which launched a very young Raj Kapoor as a producer and director. To make his own movies was a burning passion for Raj and this film with not one or not two but with three heroines turned out to be a boxoffice failure. However, it now is considered to be probably the best movie Raj made and many critics give it the status of a classic of Indian cinema.

I am re-uploading these songs on request in two back-to-back posts. By the way, Shankar & Jaikishan, who will be launched big time in Raj's next movie "Barsaat (1949)", were assistants to the music director Ram Ganguly for this film.

He is just fabulous the way he describes about his movies and his life in the movies. Too bad this is so brief. I wanted more. Dil ki Rani (1947)

Raj Kapoor sang a solo and a duet with Geetaji in this movie. Its music was by Burmanda. Geetaji also sang four beautiful solos. I am re-uploading these and other songs from this album on request. Here are the songs ...
