Swarapriya, Thanks for Jis Desh mein Ganga ... with long version songs.

The Cd I have did not have part 2 and Kabir Soya kya kare. Although the later song
was sent to me by Vasudev ji some time ago.

Talking of long song Aa Ab Laut Chale had extar verse in the movie as well as in the record.
In the video cassets/dvd/cd I have not across the longer version of the song. I have heard
Dr Kamlesh Avasthi sing the extra verse. It would be great if somene has the original
long vwesion by Mukeshji.

QUOTE(swarapriya @ Feb 5 2009, 11:52 PM) *

Here is a motion picture that was a magnificent ode to truth, honesty, love, and redemption. Even though it did have undertones of going overboard, yet it was very entertainingly done, thanks to its magnificent music by the duo Shankar & Jaikishan. Each song is a heart grabber and stays with you forever.

Swarapriya, "...undertones of going overboard" is among the most compelling phrases I have read/heard in a long time. Thank you for that - and, of course, for uploading some great songs!

IMO, your phrase is euphemistic - JDMGBH, while an enjoyable film, is way overboard. To my mind, it shows the beginning of RK's self-indulgence that reached its zenith in "Sangam" and "Mera Naam Joker".

Warm regards,
Abhay

Shriman Satyawadi (1960)

Here is another delightful album composed by Dattaram. Even though he was a long time assistant to Shankar & Jaikishan and composed for only a handful of films as an independent composer, he never made the grade.

There are three beautiful solos by Mukesh in this album and Suman Kalyanpur gets to sing all of the female songs. Here is a description of these songs and the songs themselves ...

Thanks Swarpriya for u/l Shriman Satyawadi album.

Aye dil dekhe he humne and Hal e dil hamara are simply superb.
I have both them but am tempted to d/l becuase of the quality of u/l.

You are right Daataram did not get the recognition he deserved. Being
from RK camp I guess he prefered and used Mukesh very effectivley IMO.

Nazrana (1961)

This was made from a hit Tamil movie called "Kalyana Parisu". Sridhar, who was a screen writer, made his directorial debut with this movie in Tamil. He later made it in Telugu by the name "Pelli Kaanuka". The movie in Telugu was also a super hit. Sridhar directed the Hindi version as well but it enjoyed only a modest success. Raj Kapoor looked tired and "old" opposite beautiful Vyjayanti Mala.

The music of the movie by Ravi was superb. Almost all songs were popular when the movie was released. Rafi Saab gets to sing one song for Raj Kapoor in this movie after a long time. The source of the songs I am uploading here are from CD collections and from the members of this Forum. I am also including two extended versions, again, by the courtesy of the Forum members. Because of the nature of different sources, the song quality also is not uniform.

Here are the details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

QUOTE(swarapriya @ Oct 12 2008, 03:57 AM) *

Aag (1948)

With only a few movies beehind him, young Raj Kapoor decided to go into making his own movies. He launched the production of "Aag" in early 1947. He couldn't secure the finances because distributors weren't sure of his worth. But he was able to borrow enough money to go ahead with his plans. He signed not one or two but three leading ladies to work in his movie. That was quite an accomplishment. Besides acting in it, he co-wrote the story, screenplay, and directed the movie.

The movie was a brooding study in love and was released in 1948. Even though there was anticipation throughout the filmworld about young Raj's maiden venture, it was a commercial failure. However, it has attained a kind of cult status and is now considered to be one of Raj Kapoor's better movies.

The music and the songs of the film were very popular then. Even today, they sound fresh and beautiful. The music was by Ram Ganguli. The song "Dekh Chaand Ki Ore Musafir" was recorded with Meena Kapoor and Shailesh Mukherjee as well as Shamshad Begum and Shailesh Mukherjee. The latter version was used in the movie. I am not sre what exactly is the story here. Also, I am missing one song from this album which is shown in red italics in the table below. If any one of the members has this song, please kindly share with us.

Now for details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

swarpriyaji,
a request for reupload.
thanks in advance,
mahesh
