Swarapriya,

Thanks for u/l Chalia album. Don't know why the movie failed at BO.
IMHO it was an excellent acting by RK and Nutan. It was first time
KA scored for RK starer and began their long association with Mukesh.
Despite RK/SJ camp Mukesh sang more for Kalaynji Anandji. They succesfully used Mukesh for a lot of new heros.

I have heard couple of different version of chalia mera naam with slight
variation in wordings.

Also thanks Anupama ji for Neel Kamal album.

Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1960)

Here is a motion picture that was a magnificent ode to truth, honesty, love, and redemption. Even though it did have undertones of going overboard, yet it was very entertainingly done, thanks to its magnificent music by the duo Shankar & Jaikishan. Each song is a heart grabber and stays with you forever.

I am uploading these songs mostly from a CD but there are several including extended versions that were contributed by the Forum members. I am also including the song "Aa Ab Laut Chalen" from Lata's CD "Lata In Her Own Voice" that has her introduction.

There are 17 songs I am uploading here. The song "Jis Desh Mein" full version is the same as the combination of its parts 1 and 2. There is also a longer version. Somewehere through the middle of this song, there is a slight skip. Otherwise it is very good. The quality of these extended versions is also generally good.

Because of so many songs, I will upload them in three installments, one after another. Here is description of the first six songs and the songs themselves ...

Aashiq (1962)

Here is another movie of Raj Kapoor that was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Even though it has terrific songs by the duo Shankar & Jaikishan this movie did not have the same touch as their previous collaboration "Anari". Of course not many movies are like "Anari". It was one of a kind of a movie. A gem.

I am uploading nine songs here in two installments, one after another. Here are the details of the first four songs from this movie ...

Thanks, SP!
LO AAI MILAN KI RAAT & NASHEELI RAAT HAI is the same song!

woman is the mirror in which man sees the reflection of his own self, his own dormant and hidden powers of genius when she comes and stands before him
A woman is a meaning to life ! Someone who loves, who cares !

Swarapriya, Thanks a lot. I do appreciate your quick respone. You are right that Aashiq is not close to Anari.
Never the less Aashiq was above average and enjoyable. In fact I can think of very few movies that are
in the class of Anari.

Keep up the great effort on this fantastic thread.

Swarapriya, Thanks for Jis Desh mein Ganga ... with long version songs.

The Cd I have did not have part 2 and Kabir Soya kya kare. Although the later song
was sent to me by Vasudev ji some time ago.

Talking of long song Aa Ab Laut Chale had extar verse in the movie as well as in the record.
In the video cassets/dvd/cd I have not across the longer version of the song. I have heard
Dr Kamlesh Avasthi sing the extra verse. It would be great if somene has the original
long vwesion by Mukeshji.

Swarapriya, "...undertones of going overboard" is among the most compelling phrases I have read/heard in a long time. Thank you for that - and, of course, for uploading some great songs!

IMO, your phrase is euphemistic - JDMGBH, while an enjoyable film, is way overboard. To my mind, it shows the beginning of RK's self-indulgence that reached its zenith in "Sangam" and "Mera Naam Joker".

Warm regards,
Abhay

Shriman Satyawadi (1960)

Here is another delightful album composed by Dattaram. Even though he was a long time assistant to Shankar & Jaikishan and composed for only a handful of films as an independent composer, he never made the grade.

There are three beautiful solos by Mukesh in this album and Suman Kalyanpur gets to sing all of the female songs. Here is a description of these songs and the songs themselves ...
