Thanks a ton for that article Kaustubh bhai bow.gif I'd been to an Amit Kumar concert on saturday, where he happened to mention about this Dubai concert that had taken place. Really happy to read about the same smile1.gif

PS: The pic that has come along with the article features 4 faces. The footnote below says that the 3rd guy is Anil Bajpai. But as far as I know, Anil Bajpai doesn't look that way tongue1.gif I guess its an error by the newspaper, who have put up the pic of the guy who played keyboards, and gave his name as Anil Bajpai biggrin.gif

Love Music....... LOVE GK

Yes you are right. The newspaper made a mistake. The photo is of a wonderful person a great friend of mine, Mr Suresh Tale - a prominent face on Zee TV in Saregamapa

Shurer Raja - Bengali - Non Film
Album on : Sagarika Acoustronics
Recorded at: Dear Studio Bombay
Lyrics : Mukul Dutta
Music Arrangements : Ramesh Iyer

This is the best tribute that any recording artist has given to
Panchamda in a form of an album. 8 songs composed and sung by Amit
Kumar. I am uploading all 8 songs in CD quality. I guess it will need
many many hearings and only then I can write my review on this one !!

I loved track No 4, 7 & 8 more than the others.

It would be great if some kind souls come together and translate the
lyrics properly ( maybe we can discuss this offline )

http://d.turboupload.com/d/913216/Shurer_R...-_Amit.zip.html

Enjoy !!

PS -
To download : click on the above link....then wait for 40 seconds...and
then download from the actual link !!! so simple...please dont panic if
the link is not working...it simply means that the server is busy and
one has to try later...
.....if any problems on downloading ( only when a message says that the
file is deleted by the hosting server ) do write to me on personal mail
( mails written in the forums will not be read ). I can send all the 8
songs to individual email id's next week ( because unlike the previous
cases, I have this album in my inbox and I have just to forward it...so
it will be a faster process )

Thanks KCP. That was awesome. One complaint I will always have against Amit is that he has done a huge injustice to people like us by not singing for the past few years.
His voice .. woh aawaaz .... its Gods gift to him and he is not doing any justice to it.

It is something to cheer about KCP!!
Only thing that hurt is that they had to specify Amit Kumar as 'Kishore Kumar's son' in the photo caption. C'mon yaaro AK ki apni ek pehchan hai. I dont know what prompted the ed. to assume folks these days would be ignorant about him and his legacy.

I’d rather him not singing than to have him reduced to buttering up all and sundry for getting a chance to sing for the film industry nowadays, where the race is to organise a riot of sound(s), hoping they strike some lucky winning notes and get away with it. Invariably, in today’s milieu, they do manage to...

Just found this piece of (great) news on the online edition of "The Statesman"

Old tunes make a comeback

KOLKATA, Sept. 18: Durga Puja is not quite the same festival without music, and although music companies have not fallen behind in bringing out new releases meant especially for the Pujas, some musicians prefer tunes composed long ago. After two years, Amit Kumar has sung again in Bengali and his new album, Aaka Baaka Pothe from Sagarika Music, is one Puja release that most will look forward to. But Kumar himself is not amused with the Bengali music scene.
“Times have changed and like films, music too has changed. You no longer will find films of the 1950s calibre. The music churned out today has no magic. The hits are simply not memorable in the long run. Audiences too are not as educated in music as they were before. They seem not to appreciate good music,” Kumar said.
