U R welcome Sonu - the more the merrier smile.gif
Regarding AK being highly underrated - I hv always wondered what went wrong - he should ve been right there at the top following the exit of the legends. sad.gif

The song was never used in the movie unsure.gif

Walker bhai fully agree with u.

Amit got lot of talent, once he changes his approach and be more clever and optimisitc etc...no doubt he will be on top.

I think he need more support of KK\RDB fans. who are a big big disappointment in this case. how could they do this to a singer who was fav of both RDB and KK???

few people like Kcp bhai and u are exceptions to this.

more laterz smile.gif

One of my friend ( a great fan of guru ) travelled 4 days back to Dubai for the IIFA awards...he is born and brought up in Bhopal. He told this kissa....

He went for the distribution rights of Door Ka Raahi to Guru and they started to talk about the price....My friend said "Dada ye price thoda zyaada lag raha hai...kuchh kam karo"

Guru got furious over the money-part and send his dog free on this friend...he fled out of the bungalow and even after the dog stopped at the gate

smile1.gif) biggrin.gif

Yes - and KK set the dog on him in all seriousness it seems - so furious was he. (infact i came to know of this episode thru a music collector in Santa Cruz, Mumbai). KK is (in)famous for such anecdotes.

Great news guys...

Amit Kumar has sung a song in a bengali film called 'Refugee' starring the superstar of bengali films Prasenjit (Biswajit's son)...

Its said that (only) the starting alaap of this Bengali song sounds similar to Kishore Kumar and many people will get confused once they listen !!!

Hoping that this song becomes a rage...

The last AK concert I attended (small venue) - I sat there the whole time mesmerized - that night AK became KK, not only his voice, but the way he was acting on stage and among the audience. It was a tribute show for charity, he sang many of his dad's hits, the voice was just amazing. wub.gif It was as if KK had possessed the body of AK for a few hours - goosebumpy situation and I loved every second. And most of all he seemed to enjoy himself immensely as well, - which made it all the better - I remember he didn't want the concert to end - we didn't either! He was having too much fun among people who appreciated the oldies.

The first time I saw him in concert, I actually didn't know I was chatting with the great AK, lol, until half hour later when he appeared on the stage with Ashaji - until that time I had never seen his picture. I had arrived early and he was quite nervous - was out in the audience seats because one of the sound techs was there and they were discussing something. Most of the crowd showed up close to starting time, as is standard, lol, I was early simply because I wanted a close parking because Chicago Bulls finals were going on, and the city tended to riot, lol. He then asked me a few questions about the Chicago Bulls. tongue1.gif After the intermisison, Asha told us that he had left the concert hall (after she announced the Bulls victory) - he basically had gone off to party, haha. Didn't know he was such a basketball fan - but who wasn't in those days?

Doston, Apna Tau Yeh Imaan Hai
Jo Bhi Jitna Saath De, Ehsaan Hai
Umr Ka Rishta Jodne Waale
Apni Nazar Mein Deewane Hai

Thanks for the memories HF. Bye Bye.

KCP,
thanks for the video. Each time I listen to Amit's songs The more I fall in love with his voice. We could have listened to him so much had Amit been singing today. Its our loss.

Unfortunately I do not have the video in digital format. But yes this small clip is "more" effective if seen on screen !!!! AK's closing of eyes and the passion simply sweeps us away

Hail the son of God !!!! as they typically say !!!

Wishing here a very happy birthday to Amit Kumar. Today he starts the 55th year in his eventful life. A life which has seen practically every oddities, every moments of fun, joy, grief, excitement, happiness. Wishing him a prosperous and a healthy life in future too.

I remember my first meet with AK quite fondly. It took me two or more meets to know him as a person and there afterwards he has won over me with his personality. His stage shows are fun to watch and listening to him makes one get the feel of a total entertainer, next to Kishore, the only other person who is said to be THE entertainer in stage shows in India. His singing of songs like Ek Chatur Naar, solo, can make every critic of his shut his mouth. My fondness and love towards his recorded-songs singing started from some of his Bengali non-film albums like "Haarano Dingulo", "Saagorika" and "Aanmona Mon". There was no looking back there afterwards and every album of his was lapped up like a hungry lion after its prey. His pronunciation in songs is impeccable. He has imitated Kishore, Bappi, Panchamda, SPBala, Shailendra Singh, Mohd Rafi, Manna Dey, Mukesh, Hemant Kumar, you-name-it ( can give examples of each ) but yet has his own typical voice, a voice which every die-hard Amit Kumar fan loves, idolizes. Hundreds of gems heard and suddenly one day I wonder "ohh is this the real Amit Kumar that the world knows" ?? Started giving a few songs ( again stressing on Bengali non film songs ) to his distractors ( complaining about his sur in Hindi songs ) and they also started liking his singing and wondered why did he not sing so consistently in Hindi. Even I am surprised in certain songs, why the leading music directors of the 80's like Bappi, Annu Malik, Nadeem Shravan, Laxmikant Pyarelal etc, did not give him good songs, but then the answer lied in the question itself. Out of his 160 odd songs that he sang for Panchamda, at least 75% were gems in their own right.

A man, today, is definitely misunderstood to be a whimsical person, a guy of many moods, undisciplined, etc etc etc. But believe me I have seen and heard worst examples in Bollywood in past and present. A man who earns maybe more than all playback singers in Bollywood in stage shows (per year), who has done record number of shows in India and abroad, a man who has stuck to his beliefs, a man who has not sat at the producers/music directors doorstep to lick their spit, yet has sung more than 1200 professional recorded songs, some of which if heard in proper senses, can be the choicest the best songs ever created !!

I do not disagree that AK was a spoilt child and Kishore was very much worried about him and used to tell every friend of AK to control AK. But unfortunately it was the death of his dad that must have realized AK that how much he missed Kishore's advices, his cajoling, his instructions. Over the past many years AK has certainly mellowed his behaviour and takes the life in his own strides. He does riyaaz, exercises a bit and leads quite a healthy life ( controlled boozing, for which he was famous wink2.gif ) He does not care much about the people around, but at the same time he never comes in the way of people by pressing the wrong nerves.

Amit Kumar has so many Non-Film albums ( especially Bengali....a list of many albums is given at the end of the post, please do add if you find any more names ) to his name, where every song is an ace, a gem to cherish for life. "Amaar Ii Aami" is one of them. Every song straight from the heart, no missing of sur, emotive voice the best.

Shishir Jhora (Dewdrops fall) - The song is very melodious. Voice of AK is also very soothing in this one. The mukhda is foot tapping and overall a very good song. Guitar use is quite good in this one.

Shei Tumi Aar Shei Aami (The same you & me) - The guitar prelude just sweeps your heart away. Also all the interludes are guitar solos and quite innovative. Here comes the magical voice of AK. The chorus repeat the mukhda lines and is very effective. The song has very nice romantic feel and certainly AK conveys that a pair in moonlight

E Monta Aamar (Ths heart of mine) - This is my most favourite song in the album ( singing wise ). AK's voice makes one swing his heart out. One of the most melodious songs that I have ever heard. The humming of AK between the two antaras is just out of the world. Actually there is no interlude music but just humming of AK and the second antara picks up immediately. A superb show by AK. Quite innovative by the music director ( cannot remember any other song of this kind ). Once again the Aa Haaaa Hmmm which fades out at the end of the song is just superb. After Kishore, if anybody has taken my heart for humming in songs, its definitely AK.

Aaj Je Shishu (Today who is a child) - an inspired (copied) music from a western song, but nevertheless, the singing of AK makes it so enjoyable. Lyrics are also so good. Again the use of chorus is one of the best I have heard. use of Sax is also pretty good.

Aamake Aamar Motoi (To me like myself) - This song is very difficult to sing ( especially the antaras, in terms of breath control and being in sur ) and AK has come out with flying colours. The crescendo of emotions built in the antara is just unbelievably heart-wrenching.

Shobee Je Aaj (Everything For today) - Again one of the best Indian songs in western-country-music category. Pronunciation of AK of certain words like "Bhola" "Bedo Na" coupled with the soft emotive voice of his, makes his singing a treat to hear. The saxophone in the interludes is once again very very effective.

E Jibon (This life) - Once again superb singing, superb lyrics and music makes this a beauty. Guitar interludes are again the highlights of the song. Chorus again repeating a few lines from the mukhda brings a certain pace to the song. At places where AK shouts a bit, he does sound like ARR shouting in the song of "Rangila".

Oto Nithoor (So Cruel) - AK once again proves that he is the best in sad songs, contrary to his image in today's leading musicians, that he is suitable only for fast/pacy songs. Time and again he has sung such sentimental sad songs in such an effective manner that I feel sad and pity those musicians. A bit of classical singing by AK with a western music fusion. Very effective !!!

4 songs were composed by Tirtharaj Bose & 4 by Rocket Mondol (Rocket is a childhood friend of AK and one of the greatest guitar player in India )

E Monta Aamar (Ths heart of mine),Oto Nithoor (So Cruel), Shishir Jhora (Dewdrops fall), Aamake Aamar Motoi *(To me like myself) - were by Tirtharaj Bose.

E Jibon (This life), Aaj Je Shishu (Today who is a child), Shei Tumi Aar Shei Aami (The same you & me), Shobee Je Aaj (Everything For today) - were

Yesterday Amit Kumar had a major accident and with Gods grace everyone from the family is unhurt....just minor scratches

Amit da was very scared about his small daughter, Muktika but she is fine now :-)

Due to rain the vehicle had lost control ( car driver ) and it overturned. It was only becasue of the grace of God that everyone is now on their toes absolutely saved from a life-threatening accident

Amit da is on the way to Bombay today, by train

God is great !!
