Himmat Aur Mehanat (1987)
Here is a typical Bappida album. There are five songs in this, and Asha Bhosle is part of each one of them. She has two solos, two duets with Kishore and a duet with Mohd. Aziz. All in all it is a thoroughly enjoyable fare. Because of the lengths of the songs, I will upload them in back-to-back posts. Here are the first three songs ... I have made the changes to the tables per your suggestions. By the way for "Chuee" those who downloaded got the correct singer information. I have transcribed it wrong in the table. My "Saccha" song aslo had the correct singer information for those who downloaded it but the wrong movie name. Cheers. -S This post has been edited by swarapriya: Aug 15 2009, 05:53 AM |

Also earlier post for Karam Daata, Pyar Tujhse Hi Kiya is Anuradha Paudwal, Mohd Aziz & Suresh Wadkar not shabbir Kumar. I made the changes per your suggestion. Thanks a bunch again. By the way I went back and checked this song again. It indeed is Suresh Wadkar. I jyst transferred the information incorrectly. Those who have downloaded have gotten the correct singer information. Some of this information I use from EarthMusic which as we all know is not always reliable. Especially when my source for songs is not from a CD I generally rely on this resource. Sometimes gut feelings are more correct than the information given in the EarthMusic website. (These songs were ripped from a DVD.) Cheers. -S This post has been edited by swarapriya: Aug 15 2009, 05:50 AM |

I think Karam Data was not released in CD until recently. Venus has now made the digital mp3 available in CDQ. If you are looking for it I will post those on weekend.
And I am eagerly watching your thread on Madhubala, Meena Kumari & Nargis. Would love to see members chip in golden oldies picturized on the venus queen. This post has been edited by Sangeet: Aug 15 2009, 05:59 AM Sangeet

Well, thanks for the offer of CD quality songs. I for myself not that keen to download these songs again, but someone may want them. As for the new queens thread, I am so happy that we have seen people like Mirsaji ad others come forward to pitch in their share. I am hoping others will follow the suit. I was hesitant to start this new thread because I don't have many songs from the ealy movies of these reigning queens. I decided to go ahead with it because I have seen how people come forward in this Forum to share the songs. Cheers, Swarapriya |

Ijaazat (1987)
This movie was based on a Subodh Ghosh’s Bengali novel, “Jatugriha”. In 1964, it was made into a movie of the same name in Bengali by the renowned Tapan Sinha and starred Arundhati Devi and Uttam Kumar. For the Hindi version, Gulzar wrote the screenplay, dialogues, lyrics, and also directed. “Ijaazat” had only four songs, all sung by Asha Bhosle. But all four are just absolute gems. The great R.D. Burman, who was associated with Gulzar in so many movies, composed some of the beautiful tunes. The song “Mere Kuchh Saamaan” fetched Gulzar the National Film Award for best lyrics. He also got the similar award from Filmfare. Asha’s same song also won her the best female playback singer National Film Award. I am not sure how the Bengali version was, but this is one magnificent movie. A complex story woven between three characters played by Rekha, Anuradha Patel, and Naseeruddin Shah. All three excelled in their roles. The movie explores the love triangle and the intricacies it brings into the lives of the three affected people. Anuradha Patel brings in a refreshingly beautiful display of acting skills by playing the role of a free spirited person who cannot be committed to any lasting relationship. Someone described that her role was like that of a morning breeze that is evasive but always lingering behind you. I haven’t seen much of Patel’s work except for this one. Apparently she appeared in 25 or so movies and on TV. She is the maternal grand daughter of Ashok Kumar. Here are the songs from this movie … This post has been edited by swarapriya: Aug 23 2009, 11:31 PM Attached image(s) |
