The male voice is of " Laxmikant" of Laxmikant-Pyarelal. One of the few songs he has sung.


I have read that LP wanted RDB to sing this song, but due to some reason RDB could not sing it. So Laxmikant sang himself. If you listen to the song it is fairly evident that this song was composed for Pancham to sing.

Prem Rog (1982)

Here is a movie that Raj Kapoor directed and had great opportunity to explore a sensitive subject. But he showed too much restraint in handling the subject and in the process boldness the movie called for was lost. The movie still was on occasion engrossing and thought provoking but in the end it was another regular entertainer. It had some beautiful music by Laxmikant & Pyarelal and some of the songs were picturized so beautifully that they make a definite impression.

When the movie was released, the public and critics heaped high praise on it. It was nominated for eight Filmfare awards and ended up winning three. Padmini Kolhapure was a surprise choice for best actress. Raj Kapoor won two awards; one for best direction and the other for best editing.

Lata Mangeshkar and Suresh Wadkar sang all the songs. The duet "Bhanvre Ne" is a standout. Surprisingly, Wadkar with all the talent he had, seems like never got his due. I had an opportunity to see him perform live and he came out as someone that really does not belng in the Bombay cine world. He was touring to build a music school for kids and that was his mission. He took time off from singing during that time, and never got back into mainstream singing. Too bad for those who loved his voice.

Shammi Kapoor bagged Filmfare best supporting actor for his role in this movie. There is a nine minute plus song that has eight singers in this album! Here are the deatils of the songs and the songs themselves ...
