Do Ustad (1959)

Here is another winner from OP. The twist is that here Rafi Saab is singing all the songs for Raj Kapoor. Remember this was in 1959. Raj Kapoor, Mukesh, and Shankar-Jaikishan were at the top of their popularity during this time. Only OP can do this and get away magnificently with it.

There are eight songs in this album. Most of them are duets by Ashaji and Rafi Saab. The extended version of the song "Nazron Se Teer Maare" is by the courtesy of the Forum members.

Now for details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

Swarapriya, thanks for another relatively lesser known album of Do Ustaad in CDQ. I read in OPN's interview an interesting incident about this film.

Raj Kapoor, who always used to have a say in the music of his films asked OP "How would these songs sound in XXXXX's voice ?"
OP replied "They will sound #$%&*". Of course, the producer Sheikh Mukhtar persisted with OP and all songs in Rafi sahab's voice. Raj Kapoor made sure that OP did not compose for any of his films then onwards...

Lovely songs !

Cheers

Swarapriya,

Thanks a lot for the Do Ustaad album. I was missing a couple of long versions.
If I may suggest a tiny change in the songs list. The song 'Meri Choli Pe Chameli Ke Phool Rasiya' is from Do Ustad (1982).

Sone Ki Chidiya (1958)

Here is another perennial winner from the genius of OP. Some fabulously melodious songs in this album. Talatji gets to sing a couple of delightfully beautiful duets with Ashaji. The contrast in their voices wants you to hear these songs over and over again.

All songs in this movie are from a CD, except the extended versions. They are ripped from a DVD. The extended version of the duet "Raat Bhar Ka Hai" has a jump 1 minute and 20 seconds into the song. I tried to clean it up, but wasn't successful in removing the jump. Probably I could have clipped part of the audio. This song is so beautiful with Rafi Saab reminding you of some of the songs of "Baiju Bawra" all over again.

Now for details of the songs and songs themselves ...

Thanks for the Sone Ki Chidiya album.
I thought 'Aaj Ki Raat' song was in Kaifi Azmi's voice; someone please confirm.

Jaali Note (1960)

Here is another movie that wasn't a runaway success but not because its music wasn't good. OP, as usual delivers once again. There are six Asha-Rafi duets, like in his previous outing for "Do Ustad". But the charm of Madhubala and Dev's debonair antics just couldn't do it.

The extended version of "Nigahon Ne Phenka Hai" is by the courtesy of the Forum members. Now for details of the songs and songs themselves ...

Thank You Very Much Swarapriya, for Jaali Note.

May be it is one of a kind of a gesture which HF members will do, to thank if someone is giving Jaali Note laugh.gif

This is one of my favourite albums. This really is cream of OP's music. Every song is heart stopping. Thank you very much for this album.

Swarapriya,

Thanks for OPN's Jaali Note album.
From my side, here is the record version of the duet song, 'Chaand Zard Zard Hai'. The song lines are slightly different from the film version. The song's audio originated from HF member.

Raat Sard Sard Hai, Chaand Zard Zard Hai - Rafi, Asha (3:24 \ 128)

If anyone has the following missing song, please upload it.

Hello Pratul,

I always enjoy humor. This time though looks like I was able to pass the "Jaali Note" without a hitch.

Thanks for the song. I wonder why they do this. It could be confusing. In this case the results are delightful because thiis is double good.

Kalpana (1960)

This is one of may all time favorite albums of OP. Song after song, these are absolutely melodious. Ashok Kumar not only starred in this movie but also produced it. There are 11 songs, all from a CD. Then I am including here eight extended versions of the songs that are by the courtesy of the Forum members. The quality of these is not consistent, but they are uniformly of fair to good quality. I do have another song in the library called "Holiya Mein Ude Re Gulaal" that is of 6 min and 6 secs duration. I don't know who the principal singer is. Also the quality is so bad, I decided not to upload it. If anyone wants it I can upload separately here.

OP's multi talents are in dazzling display in this album. This album is indeed a showcase for his prowess. There are several beautiful solos by Ashjaji. Also some great duets of Ashaji and Rafi Saab. But a standout song for the album is the Manna-Rafi song "Tu Hai Mera Prem Devta". Who said OP can't compose classical tunes? This song alone is really enough to make believers of all those who are non-believers. I have an extended version of this song included here. But there is even a longer version of the song also included here. The quality of this song is really excellent. It is worthwhile to download this beauty.

Now for details of the songs and the songs themselves ...
