Dil Aur Mohabbat (1968) Swarapriya, Thanks for the Dil Aur Mohabbat album. Does anyone know if there is one more song in this movie called 'my name is kishori' by Asha Bhosle? Exon Thank you very much Exon. I may even have heard this song somewhere. But Ashaji has sung so many these type of songs, it is difficult to tell. Cheers, Swarapriya |

Humsaya (1968)
Here is another one of those beautiful albums that stays with you forever. Almost all songs are top notch. Rafi Saab is back after an absence of few movies with OP. He has one great solo "Dil Ki Awaz Bhi Sun" that echoes deep through the chambers of your heart. A lovely piece indeed. Ashaji has four solos. All winners. I want to single out two of them here. The song "O Kanhaiya" was sung with great aplomb. But my favorite from this album, and one of my all time favorites of Ashaji is the song "Woh Haseen Dard De Do". This beauty was written by Shevan Rizvi Saab. The way Ashaji gets into this song and delivers it with such intensity that it touches your heart with relentless passion and the feeling stays with you for ever. A superb allround composition and rendering of the song. There are seven songs in ths album. Details of these are given in the following table followed by the songs themselves ... Kismat (1968)
Here is another great 1968 album from OP saab. This album has only five songs but they all (except for "One Two Three Baby" song) are sparkling gems. That one song "One Two" is very oridinary. But there are two standouts in this album. The duet by Ashaji and Shamshadji, "Kajra Mohabbat Wala" is one of them. OP seems to have the knack of turning these female duets into memorable songs. This one is one to keep in your heart for the ages. However, for me the number one song of the album, and perhaps one of the top 25 songs of Ashaji, is the song "Aao Huzoor Tumko". Lyrics for the marvel were penned by Noor Dewasi. Once again for the superb composition for these enriched lyrics, Ashaji seems like puts her entire soul in singing this song. The result is that it is one of those gems that never loses its lustre. Now for details of the songs and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Sambandh (1969)
Here is one of the great musical achievemments of all times. The music composed by OP for "Sambandh" is so different from the music he composed for other movies. There are so many things that are worth mentioning that makes this music just outsatnding and that stands apart from others. 1. The film was based on a Bengali novel called "Pratham Prem". The serene and serious nature of the subject forced OP to create music that was different from others he composed thus far. 2. To aid in creating such music for the theme of the movie, OP for the first time in his career selected Kavi Pradeep to write the lyrics. Pradeepji comes through in flying colors with some outstandingly rich lyrics. 3. He selected Hemant Kumar to sing four songs; one solo, a small snippet, a duet with Mahendra Kapoor, and a duet with Ashaji. This is the only movie in which Hemantda worked for OP. The result was absolutely fabulous. 4. After several years OP selected Mukeshji to sing one song in this movie. Mukeshji previously sang a duet for OP in "Miss Coca Cola (1955)". This was only for the second time Mukeshji was working with OP. The result is just astonishing. The song sung by Mukeshji, "Chal Akela" is one to be remembered for ages. It is one of those magnificent creation where the lyrics, the music, and the singing all work in unison to produce maximum impact. Mukeshji did sing couple of more duets for another OP movie "Ek Baar Mooskura Do (1972)". By the way, when OP was composing music for the Raj Kapoor starrer "Do Ustad", Kapoorji suggested that he should use Mukeshji for his songs. OP did not go along with the suggestion and went with Rafi Saab singing all the songs for Raj Kapoor in that movie. The songs became huge hits but the movie enjoyed only a modest success. 5. The songs by Mahendraji also have that wonderful feeling. Especially the song "Andhere Mein Jo Baithe Hain". Mahendra is good with such songs, but here he does an outstanding job. 6. Ashaji has six solos and a duet in this movie. Once again, Ashaji shows her love for OP's musical compositions. The song "Akeli Hoon Main Piya" is another outstanding example from this movie where she puts her soul into rendering it. Inspite of such outstanding music and some rich lyrics and unforgettable songs, this movie did not garner a single award. It was not even nominated for any. That year, 1969, best music award went to Laxmikant-Pyarelal for "Jeene Ki Raah". Sure, this movie had some good songs, but none of them come close to the siongs of "Sambandh". Best male singer was Kishoreda for "Roop Tera Mastana" from "Aradhana". Great song indeed. But Mukeshji was not even nominated. Best female singer was Lata Mangeshkar for "Jeeni Ki Raah" song "Aap Mujhe Achche Lagte Hain". Very routine and ordinary song. Best lyricist was Neeraj ji for the film "Chanda Aur Bijli" for the song "Kaal Ka Pahiya". Pradeepji was not even nominated. There are 15 songs in this movie. My CD had only eight of them. I am uploading 10 altogether. Two songs, "Tum Ko To Karodon Saal", the solo by Ashaji, and the song "Tu Hi Mere Din Ka Suraj" are courtesy of our fellow Forum member, Erumji. I am still missing several songs. These are shown in red italics in the folowing table. Now for details of the songs and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) ![]() |
