C.I.D. 909 (1967)

Continuing on the hit parade of OP, he still maintained his high quality of hummable songs with this album. It is amazing that he sustained this type of creativity for so long. But this seems to be the trademark of so many successful artists during that time or may be anytime.

For the first time in a long time we don't see Rafi Saab singing any songs in this album for OP. But Mahendra Kapoor ably picked up the slack. One foot tapping song is the duet of Ashaji and Mahendra "Tera Nikhara Nikhara Chehra". Ashaji also has three beautiful solos.

Now for details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

Yes, thats correct. This is one of the few movies for which OP did not call on Rafi sahab. Apparently Rafi sahab came late for recording of one of his earlier songs and OP did not like it. He stopped calling Rafi sahab and roped in Mahendra Kapoor. Very soon OP realized his mistake and called in Rafi. Rafi sahab, the great human being he was, hugged OP and the musical harmony continued...

Thanks for this relatively rare album. I happened to see this movie long time back and that time knew only few songs of OP.

Cheers
Parag

Parag,

I thought OP once he dropped Rafi Saab he never went back to him again. I am not sure whether this was the movie OP decided to drop Rafi Saab. If so, I am so glad they reconciled to add more musical gems together.

Cheers,
Swarapriya

My sincerest thanks to the Admin for marking this thread as "Important Thread" on my request.

Warmest Regards
Parag

Thank you very much Parag for doing this. I always wondered how some topics were grouped above rest of others. So it takes a special request from someone, apparently whose advice is trusted by the Forum adminsitrators, to act on this. Thank you once again Parag for doing this.

Cheers to you and many thanks to our admin folks for giving this thread the special status.

Swarapriya

Swarapriya, any one who can PM to the admin can make this kind of request. It just happens that I am on HF for about 2 years and have made simillar requests to pin threads in the past. I am extremely glad that the admin accepted my request and pinned this lovely thread.

I have also sent another request to pin a few more threads and waiting to hear from the admin on that. This is one simple thing a music lover like me can do to appreciate the great effort you are doing to keep the music of the golden era alive.

Warmest Regards
Parag

P.S. Yes and Rafi sahab did continue to sing for OP as late as 1979 for Heera-Moti for which he sang 2 duets with Dilraj Kaur.

Hong Kong (1962)

I skipped to upload songs from this movie while following my chronological order. In this one OP tries to use some oriental instruments to fit the theme of the movie. These include songs like "Hong Kong", "Honolulu", and "Kenya".

There are nine songs in this album with Ashaji taking part in all of them. Two of the songs are duets with Rafi Saab. Now for details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

No Prob Swarapriyaji, 'Skipping' sometimes return back like a 'bouquet'. 'Hongkong' is recent example of it.

Thankyou So much !!!!!

Dil Aur Mohabbat (1968)

Here is another winner from OP Saab. This album has only five songs but all are sparkling. Of course Rafi Saab is again missing here. One of my top favorite duets of Ashaji and Mahendraji is in this album: "Haath Aaya Hai". Absolutely exquisite. Beautiful lyrics were penned by Shevan Rizvi Saab. The contrasting styles of singing of Ashaji and Mahendraji (reminds me of the famous ghazal singing tandem of Mitalee and Bhupinder), this song really stands out. It seems like Ashaji put her entire soul in singing this song. An utter delight. Stays with you forever.

The two extended songs are ripped from a DVD. The quality of "Kahan Se Laayi Ho", the extended version, is about average and is in not par with other songs.

Now for details of the songs and songs themselves ...
