sorry bhai hamne pehle aap ko jawab likha baad mein u/l chk kiye. thanks boss

Anandji,

If I can do it, I will do it. This is just a question of shuffling priorities. The rule I was following (to upload in chronological order) was just to keep me straight. But I just to want to show you that I can easily bend it when I have to. Aap ke request se badaa ya bhalaa self-imposed rules bhi kya ho sakte hain?

Cheers,
Swarapriya

Mere Sanam(1965)

After a slight deviation with the last upload ("Pran Jaye..."), I just want to go back to the chronological order I was following to upload these CD albums of OP Saab.

This time it is the turn for "Mere Sanam (1965)". Another chart buster from OP Saab. Again, every song is simply superb. Al four solos by Rafi Saab are just magnificent. Of the three Asha-Rafi duets, "Roka Kai Baar" is a standout. But it is Ashaji who manages to steal the thunder with two of her three solos for this album. These are superb "Jaaiye Aap Kahan" and "Yeh Hai Reshmi Zulfon". Especially, the later one is just sensational. This must be one of Ashaji's top 25 songs. It was done with so much emotion and energy, so much vigor and passion, so much infectious appeal that it is not easy to overcome its magical effect on you. This song takes control of you and never lets you go. An absolute charmer.

Now for details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

Songs Of Mere Sanam (1965) Continued ...

Now for the rest of the songs of "Mere Sanam (1965)" including my favorite of Ashaji's superb rendering of "Yeh Hai Reshmi Zulfon Ka Andhera ...".

Swarapriya,

Thanks a lot for the Mere Sanam album. I was missing several songs in this album.
If I may suggest a small change in this songs list, the following song is from a different album of OPN.

Do Dillon Ki Dastan (1966) aaj ki raat hai ... Hum Toh Loot Gaye Mohabbat Mein Haaye Raam - Asha, Rafi, chorus

Exonji,

Thanks. And thanks for keeping me honest. I made the changes to reflect your suggestions. Again, many thanks for pointing out the error.

Cheers,
Swarapriya

Mohabbat Zindagi Hai (1966)

Here is another winner from OP maestro. The creativity he unleased some years back is still in high gear here. Both Rafi Saab and Ashaji have three solos each. They all are beautiful. Rafiji's solo, "Na Jaane Kyun" is a real standout. There is so much sweetness in Rafi's voice here that listening to it makes one feel very very good indeed. But the real knockout is Ashaji's solo "Raaton Ko Chori Chori". What a sensational song. Like her song "Yeh Hai Reshmi Zulfon" in "Mere Sanam" this song spills with such sensuality making a very deep impression on the listeners.

All songs of this album are from a CD. The extended version of the song "Raaton Ko Chori Chori" is a DVD rip. But it came out very nice. I also have an extended version of the duet "Tum Sab Se Haseen Ho". The quality wasn't up to par. I tried to clean it, but not satisfied with the end product. I am not uploading it.

Now for the details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

About 20 odd years back, I happened to see this movie in a theater in Pune (for a morning 11:30 show). During the opening credits, the moment "Music - O P Nayyar" came on the silver screen I heard a loud seeti (whistle) from a music fan. That made me so happy, that people are still excited about the rhythm king O P.

I am not sure if such musicals from the fifties and sixties will ever make ways to the theaters again but now we do have the medium of DVD/VCD to watch all these classics and be able to enjoy the music over and over again.

Thanks Swarapriya for bringing back my memories !

Cheers
Parag

P.S. The haunting voice of Rafi sahab in the opening song "Pookarata chala hoon main" (I think the titles come on this song) is simply out of the world. Especially the way he starts saying the word "Pookarata..."

Parag,

I share your feelings. There is so much beautiful music OP, SD, SJ, CR, and others spread around during those years. That type of music such soul stirring and seem to be a joy forever. I never get tired of it. I am never bored with it. Refreshing. Reverberating. Reinvigorating.

Cheers,
Swarapriya
