Many thanks, Sonu Ji, for this little known Suman song from Dil Ek Mandir.

Main Nashe Mein Hoon (1959)

<Mirsa Galib> Lata Mangeshkar:
yeh na thi hamaari kismat
(I have read reports of this Lata version. But don't know if it was recorded during or after Main Nashe Mein Hoon)

<Mirsa Galib> Usha Mangeshkar:
yeh na thi hamaari kismat, haaye,
yeh na thi hamari kismat ki visaal-e-yaar hotaa, agar aur jeete rehate yahi intezaar hotaa

AFAIK, there is no Lata version of this mirza ghalib shairi in Main Nashe Mein Hoon. Some months back I had downloaded from HF a file supposedly containing the Lata version and compared it with Usha' rendition. They were the same.

Vishwas Nerukar's list (arguably the most authentic) of S-J songs has no mention of Lata's version.

It is possible, Lata's version might have been a non-film version. I believe a few singers have sung this song as non-film versions.

I have compiled the songs list mainly from Sukesh's material. In addition, I have included information from previous HF postings and several other sources. In the missing list, I am including all unconfirmed entries, so that members can comment or confirm it's existence.
I will update the list as members confirm or eliminate the entries. Thanks for all members inputs.

mohabbat ki daastaan aaj suno yeh mohabbat ki daastaan suno
lo dil thaam lo ai zameen aasamaan yeh mohabbat ki daastaan suno (2 parts?)

Hari Ram ji yeh 2 parts ka funda thoda confusing hai. mujhe lagta hai film mein song ko do jagah use kara gaya hai. unsure.gif Those who have VCD can confirm this.

if this song had two parts or version then Vishwas nerukar would have listed them as part 1 and part 2 but he instead mentiones it as in "two parts" ie it could be case of use of song at two diff places in movie !

2-3 songs me aisa two parts likha hua hai !

Sonu

Sonu bhai,

No; listing of that particular song as solo was an error. Several sources list two versions for this song.
One by Lata, Asha; second by Lata, Asha, and Manna Dey. I don't know if Manna Dey sung intro lines or something. Members who have seen the movie could shed some light on this .

The listing of these song parts\versions are derived from Sukesh's material and other sources.
Initially, I post all information found from several sources. Once, I listen to the audio, then I try to decide if they are two versions, or two parts.

If the two version\parts have the same tune, mood, singer, and speed but differ in their antara, I list them as two parts.

If they are sung by two different singers or differ in speed or mood, then I list them as two versions.
If a song was recorded more than once and if the songs in those recordings differ, I list them as two versions (eg. Awara song).

If the so called parts are identical but are repeated in the movie, I list them as a single song.

There are some instances where a song is played in several parts in the movie; but the song could be released by record companies as one long song. I try to include a note about such instances, along with song title.

Some songs will have introductory lines. If the introductory lines do not occur in all audio distributions, I enclose those intro lines within brackets.

Hari

1) It is possible that the Lata's version may be a non-film version. But when the file was uploaed, it was claimed to be from the film, which IMO is not true.

2) The list I had sent you is Vishwas Nerurkar's list. This list does miss some some songs - such as two Pandit Bhimsen Joshi's numbers in Basant Bahar.

I had read somewhere that the song played during the titles in the above film is a classical number by Ustad Abdul Karim Khan - the guru of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. Someone who has seen the film recently may able to vouch for it. I cannot confirm it. Moreover whether it was composed by Shankar Jaikishan or an original recording by the Ustad was used, is also to be confirmed.

Sukesh

Sukesh ji seems there are few more songs tht are not listed in the Nerukar book. Nerukar made his songs listing from Hindi shabd kosh or from the movies LPs he had or from Prof bhide.etc It cant be said to be compelete

I havent seen Basant bahar.......... unlisted two songs are news to me. I think we need to raise this issue in SJ forum over completeness of SJ database.

one more song tht I found unlisted is the from umang the one tht come in movie end " sacha pyar to jhook nehi sakta". Cant say if its separate recording or same song repeated !

bobby bhai once told me abt different versions of Nain mile chain kahan. song.

Sukesh and Sonu bhai,

Thanks for the additional info and leads.
Already, I have included a few songs that were not in Sukesh's spreadsheet.
I will look into other songs you mentioned.

Please let us focus the discussion to matters pertaining to HF. Let's not complicate matters.

Sukesh,

Thanks for the info. I will remove the Lata version from the list and include a note mentioning other film and non-film versions of the song.
A quick search of the net, I find atleast two other versions of the song, one by Suraiya (for Mirza Galib), and another by Begum Akhtar. This song appeared in another movie, Deccan Queen.
