Many sincere thanks for this upload. This extended film version is not just extended, but is also a bit different in rendition compared to the audio version I had earlier!

That brings us to the question of songs that were recorded twice, first for audio and then again for the film (or first for the film and then for the audio). I am sure there are many such songs.

As you are aware, in the old days the records (78rpms) could hold at most 3.30 minutes or so of sound, hence the need to in many cases to record separately for discs and for a film OR editing the song to fit on the disc. With the advent of ep and lp, the whole exercise become unnecessary. Ther are so many examples. Many of the songs uploaded on this are either recorded separately or record versions were edited.

1) gareeb kaa pasinaa - Mohammad Rafi
2) ajab hai yeh duniyaa=Lata Mangeshkar

were composed by Madan Mohan. The other 9 songs were composed by Vishwanath-Rammurthy.

Very intersting thread that unfortunatley I am not able to keep with
as much as I would like to. I am looking for an extended version song
from Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hey. The song " Aa ab laut chale "
had another verse to it in the original release of the movie. The verse
was some thing like.. " jis mitte ne janam diya ...." I have not found
the verse in the current VHS/DVD versions of the movie. I was told that
the verse was also there when the song was played on the radio those
days so I suspect some of the LP's may the long version of the song.

I have heard Dr Kamlesh Avasthi sing this verse in his stage shows.

Hope some one has Mukeshji vesrion of original song.
