Is Sitra Devi and Tara Bai the same artist. or two different recordings.
Most of the dbs list Sitra Devi as the singer.

tarabai lucknow and sitara of kanpur were the same persons.more famous sitara devi was different[of roti and hulchal fame].

Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru had a heated word with Josh Malihabadi after he heard the song.

As fas as i remember what i read years back , he said ' Aap aise gaane bhi likhte hain, sharam aani chahiye aap ko'



I guess I need to have this song translated. On couple of hearing I don't see
any obvious words.

On other point, I though Pt. Nehru was an english gentleman when did
he have time for Urdu, let alone Hindi Films and/or music.

So I guess the offending word is Jubana. So what is the meaninig.

explicit than the Awaara Song. but people brain washed with
Victorian sensibilities will obviously object to it. I guess it is explicit
the woman is singing about sexuality instead of being the object of it
because only men are known to be horny.
I guess this song does not fit the personification of women in Indian films.

Man Ki Jeet was based on Thomas Hardy's world famous classic story:
Tess of the D Urbervilles
It is a controvercial classic written more than a century ago.
