koyal bole kuhoo oho oho

Lata Mangeshkar >>>> Begaana

"The best and the most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen,
nor touched...but are felt in the heart."

Far, very far, into the world of the farthest beyond
My hope carries me and places me
On the sweetest lap of the unknown.
There i behold my self-form
In the Dance-Delight of the Absolute

Every Night and every Morn
Some to Misery are born
Every morn and every Night
Some are born to sweet Delight
Some are born to Endless night

Yeh Pariyon ka melaa hai
har dil akelaa hai
pariyon ka mela hai

apna banaake sapna sajake

lara lappa lara lappa layi rakhda
aditappa aditappa layi rakhda
o dekh kar jhoothe lare
lara lappa ... rakhda, aditappa ... rakhda

babuji ki baat nirali
dil bhi khaali jeb bhi khaali
o phir bhi akad dikhaye
o babuji, phir bhi akad dikhaye
o babuji, samajh na aaye re
lara lappa ... rakhda, aditappa ... rakhda

After silence that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.

Tum pukar lo..
Tumhara intezaar hain..
Khwaab chun rahi hain raat
Beqarar hain...
Tumhara intezaar hain..
Hont pe liye hue
Dil ki baat hum..
Jaagte rahenge aur kitni raat hum..
Muktsar si baat hain..Tum se pyar hain..
Tumhara intezar hain..

Thehraiye hosh mein aa loo
toh chale jayiyega

Aap ko dil mein bitha loo
toh chale jayiyega

One of the best duets composed by Khayyam sahab..and sung by one and only one Rafi sahab and ably supported by Suman Kalyanpur ji.

I totally agree with you Parag.. smile.gif

Chand phir nikla...magar tum na aaye
Jala phir mera dil..karoon kya main Haaye...
Yeh raat kehti hain Woh din gaye tere...
Yeh jaan ta hai dil ke tu naheen mere..
Khadi hoon main phir bhi nigaahein bichaye..
Ke main kya karoon haaye ..ke tum yaad aaye..

I Would place this in Lata's TOP TEN...!! Nutan completed this beautiful circle of Geniuses..

Parag and SF,

Lovely songs... smile.gif

Love this lilting song...

Palkon ke peeche se kya tumne keh dala
Phir se to pharmana
Naino ne sapnon ki mehfil sajayi hai
Tum bhi zaroor aana...

A unique tongue twister song...

Titar ke do aage titar
Titar ke do peechhe titar
Aage teetar peechhe titar
Bolo kitne teetar..

Venkat, how about this one ?

Yeh dil aur unki nigahon ke saaye
mujhe gher lete hain bahon ke saaye

Nightingale at her best (even in 1973...!)

IMHO, Jaidev sahab's one of the best songs ! Lyrics by Padma Sachdev..Never heard/read anything about her.

P.S. Of course, Lata ji's voice is not so young as it is in "Beimaan tore nainawa nindiya na aaye", but the overall effect of the music, tune, lyrics and Lata ji is sublime. Strictly IMHO.

Another song I love is "Aap yun fasalon se gujarate rahein"..on similar grounds of music, words and rendition by Lata ji.

Parag...both of those songs are outstanding..as you said even in 70s..
But the effect of volume is that we always compare to the best of her ..and there are too many...from earlier decades.. smile.gif

Kuch dil ne kahaan ..Kuch bhi naheen..
Aise bhi baatein hote hain...
Aise bhi baatein hote hain..

Another altime favourite of mine.. smile.gif
