Sharma ji
Gaane da bahut shukriya.I am curious about music directors Husn Lal Bhagat Ram. I thought these two brothers had quit film industry in the 50's and one of them had moved to Delhi. Did they both collaborate again or only one of them worked on this film's music using other brother's name for old times' sake ? Asha Bhosle is so versatile that she sings almost like a 'thaith' Punjabi singer.Harjinder

Harjinderji, they were together till late sixties when husnlalji left for Delhi.
He used to stay in Pharganj and died in December, 1968. I think there
was another punjabi movie in late sixty or early 70s where one or two
songs of theirs, recorded earlier, were used. I will try to find those songs
out and upload. His daughter stays at NOIDA.

As we all know they were younger brothers of Pandit Amarnath Sharma
(popularly known as pandit amarnath). If you follow (understand) the
gotra system in punjabi brahmins, they were, and Pandit amarnath,
from Batish gotra. So was pandit Shiv Dayal Batish, who was earilier
asstt to pandit amarnath. In some of the records released for their
earlier movies, you will find their sir names mentioned as batish.
I was not knowing this bit of information but I sincerely thank
ashwin batish, son of late pandit s d batish, who talked to his father
last year on this issue and revealed me about the family history
and their olden days in lahore. Why this was the topic for discussion
with him because some common thread was somewhere running through our
families.

As regards the clear prunciation of Asha Bhosle, time and again
she has gone on record that when she started playback singing
she was a novice. It were Hansraj Behl, Sardool Kwatra and
Vinod who taught the nuances of playback singing and recording
systems to her. They were the people who made her understand
the punjabi and how it was to be spoken. Later on, of course,
OPN factor also added to that. As far as I know, the songs which
gave an identity to her were from the 1950 release punjabi
movie "Posti" and in every show and interview she always
make a mention of the songs from that movie.

Diwani has uploaded here her evergreen classic shabads composed
for the punjabi movie "nanak naam zahaz hai". Re man aiso kar sanyasa
is really something worth listening and my personal favourite.
