Hi:
This song is rendered by Kishore (picturized on Navin Nischal and Yogita bali) and not by rafi and as such should be in KK's thread.

Hi:

The above statement seems to be only half right. If there are any errors on my part owing to my having missed this flick, please forgive me as a stupid old person who sticks out his neck far too much. This needs to be verified by Sajdah who is both a Rafi and Hindi movie expert.

Granted that Kishore sings for Navin Nischal. But what about the words "Arre Hasne Walo .... " which seem to be very Rafi-like? I am almost sure the unobtrusive Rafi must have sung here for the puny Amitabh Bachchan who could not be spotted out at the radar screens at that time when you needed a microscope just to see him.

Binod Ji,
You are right... I bought this song from Itunes.
It is a duet by Kishore and Rafi Sahab .... in which Rafi sahab sings the sad part of the song (Arre Hasne Waalon).
Wish I knew how to take the copyright part out and upload the original song.
But I can record it again and upload the song if you want (The sound quality is not gonna be as good).

Proof ? ninja.gif Where's the need for that ?

The song would never find a place on this thread unless Rafi sahab lend his vocals to it !

Binod ji - that surely has to be a fallacy. For i've never ever claimed to be either. tongue1.gif

It's just like you said, Amitabh Bachchan stars in this movie as a villain, in this one of his early flicks, but even then mesmerising the audience with his screen presence.

Scorching the screen, rather. A must watch movie.

Amitabh might have been too tall and lanky for his time but his lean, mean appearance with that much coveted baritone voice was all that the role needed.

rolleyes.gif He reminds me of the lines "Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look; He thinks too much: such men are dangerous". (Act I, Scene II). – Julius Caesar

Oh, and the song - Madanmohan did a very fine job of weaving the two emotions - and here's a shocker of a 'confession' rolleyes.gif i like both sides very much.

The first part sounds a little like another famous Madanmohan / Kishore da composition 'Simti Si Sharmayi Si'. Which too dare i say ninja.gif i like. Very much. wub.gif

That's quite enough 'provocation' for one post tongue1.gif i think, but i'll make myself available for more, just say the word. tongue1.gif ninja.gif

Thanks for your in-depth penetrating analysis Sajdah. Your description is so graphic I feels as if I am being transported to not the movie hall but the insides of the movie itself. I'm not much of a movie buff but due to peer pressure I would watch quite a lot during my engineering education days in India. Most of the halls at that time did not have air-conditioning. The annoying summer heat and the predictable formula would often lull me to sleep. In fact the movie story lines were so predictable that when we used to arrive late (sometimes just before intermission) at out of town halls we would not be worried as we would not have missed much anyway.

As far as fallacies are concerned, I must make it clear that I never said that you claimed that you were an expert. I just stated my own reading and opinion about you. My word "puny" was intended to convey a figurative and not a literal slant to the lankiness of AB. Career wise, he was a baby at that time, although as you say he did make his presence felt in his negative role in the movie but I was merely hazarding a guess when I made the statement without having actually seen the movie itself. My word "unobtrusive" is not to be construed to mean that I'm belittling the titan known as Rafi and his concomitant outstanding contributions. I was merely referring to his "self-effacing" nature.

This much for my explanations. As always I hope to hear more of the usual interesting things from you.

Binod.

PS (Aside): Julius Caesar was the first book we had to study from Shakespeare when we were in Grade VIII. Shakespeare happens to be an author who had profound influence on me. At my O Level, we were prescribed Twelfth Night and my signature below in this Forum has an excerpt from it.

Binod.
