I just wished I had many many secretaries (well, I should better say, Administrative Assistants) following all the threads, picking all the nice songs for d/l. Well, that way I would have all of them I wanted. But then, would that be life? There wouldn'd fun in searching, desiring, dreaming, doing everything (including begging HF memebrs) and still not getting it. I love that to remain unsatiated for good music. Anyway, did I upload the following song already? (well, my secretary, if I had one for music, would tell me immediately)
Singers: Rafi+Lata-
Song: Mohabbat ki bas itni dastaan hai
(3:20, 128kbps)
Film: Baradari (1955)
Lyrics: Khumar Barabankvi
Music: Naushad

Enjoy

ohmy.gif You like to use the politically correct terms, don't you Sanjay? tongue1.gif I personally feel that delegating responsibility tends to complicate things rather than simplify - but as they say it's each to their own. tongue1.gif

Many thanks for the Baradari duet. It's an absolute favourite. Oh, and if you wouldn't mind, this Administrative Assistant would be glad to set right a tiny typo in that song info.

The music composer of this movie is Nashad - not Naushad. Nashad's real name was Shaukat Dehlvi.

Is this administrative assistant still on the job or has she just been given the boot? tongue1.gif

Sajdah

Sajdah,
Please accept my appology. I have been corrected twice on Naushad/Nashad, once by Kamala (in her thread) and now by you. You see, how naive music fan I have been (not learning from mistakes). For the first one, I was in full doubts whether it was really Naushad (it simply did not sound like Naushad style, but I did not go beyond to check and correct...slopy), but for this one, I reallly felt it sounded like Naushad style (so was not worried for further checking). Does this mean I might really need a secretary (& who could that be)??????.
Well, let us get back to the business (as anyway, no secretary would work for me) and add this Rafi number (myself, it is the most pleasure to do it myself).
Singer: Rafi
song: Zindagi aaj mere naam se sharmati hai (3:50, 128kbps)
Film: Son Of India (1962)
Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni
Music: Naushad (did I choose this song purposely? Why do I keep on choosing Naushad for my uploads? Am I expecting your correction here?)[u]

I have also given my RANKS at the end of each of the 8 songs u/led so far. This ranking is purely my personal opinion and can vary with others.

So, that leaves 3 more duets to be uploaded. This film's list of songs seems to be unending!

Sajdah Ji,

Over the last couple of days, I am repeatedly listening to these 4 extremely nice Rafi-Asha songs from Basant, thanks to your uploads.

1. Chori Chori Ek Ishara, 2.Mere Dil Pe Laga De Darling, 3.Raaste Mein Ek Haseen and 4.Nainon Mein Suraj Ki Kirane

Incidentally, the film's hero and heroine are Shammi Kapoor and Nutan. So, this film is in line with what is expected of this OPN-Rafi-Asha-Shammi combination, in terms of musical quality.

This song I would class among the 'rare' – and certainly not because I am extremely fond of it.

Take a peek at the year – 1948 – a significant time in the nation’s history, even for the ones who normally baulk at the sound of the very word ‘history’.

“Wah Re Zamane Kya Rang Dikhaye
Pal Mein Hansaye
Pal Mein Rulaye
Kya Rang Dikhaye”

Movie – Ghar Ki Izzat
Music – Pandit Gobind Ram

“Be still, sad heart, and cease repining;
Behind the clouds the sun is shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.”

– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

ohmy.gif You like to use the politically correct terms, don't you Sanjay? tongue1.gif I personally feel that delegating responsibility tends to complicate things rather than simplify - but as they say it's each to their own.

Singer: Rafi
song: Zindagi aaj mere naam se sharmati hai
(3:50, 128kbps)
Film: Son Of India (1962)
Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni
Music: Naushad (did I choose this song purposely? Why do I keep on choosing Naushad for my uploads? Am I expecting your correction here?)[u]

Sanjay, you worry too much. tongue1.gif Even the best of music critics in this world go through a bad day sometimes, it is certainly no reflection on their knowledge the way I see it – we are but human, we can’t forget that, can we?

Many thanks for that song from Son of India – did you know it is based on Raag Jaijaivanti ?
I already have more ‘versions’ of this song than I probably should – and here you are tempting me with yet another.

Sajdah

Sajdah,
Thanks for encouragings. A sad number was about to follow (as usual), but changed my mind as I saw your note.. We are all human... we are all insaan...... I need to get to the way Rafi sings "Are duniya jo chahe".
Singer: Rafi
Song: Na main bhagwan hoon (3:24, 128kbps)
Film: Mother India (1957)
Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni
Music: Naushad

Enjoy
Sanjay
