Will share the really 'nice' songs as Venkat ji used to say when he returns - i haven't given up Hope.

Sajdah

Really appreciate that line above, Sajdah Ji! I happened to see it just now.

Incidentally, in your very nice Sindbad the Sailor song, other than Rafi Saab's, there is another voice. Who must it be? But, the song is really great! I just love the sweet tremble in Rafi Saab's young voice, as in "Dil Mein Wafa, Lab Pe Dua" of the last Antara!

Venkat

PS. I am still in the process of d/ling your latest uploads!

I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

Thanks Sajdah for your consistent indefatigable efforts and unstinting dedication to music in general and to the Rafi cause in particular.

But I must say that i do miss those ‘olden’ days, when your posts were rather rare and so more prized.
I guess devaluation has to set in even regarding posts, something to do with the decadent times we're living in - i must do something about it before its too late. ninja.gif

Thanks Sajdah. For me the 1000th mark threshold is a threshold into nothingness. It just reminds me when Dalai Lama told disappointed listeners on the exciting eve of Y2K that the event had no special significance or connotations. I do agree with you that both the 'olden' and 'golden' are missing here after the carpetbaggers took over. These days with stats ruling HF and pseudo research performed to legitimize biases and beliefs, everything here is measured by "quantities" rather than "quality."

As to your "decadent times we're living in" I would not go that far and label them as such. "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times," by Charles Dickens (by the way my highschool English teacher's favorite author) has often been my guiding beacon, whenever I feel helpless and overwhelmed. I have lived long enough to remember that I have gone through far worse times. I would, rather, wind up my writeup here by saying I am quite optimistic about the younger generation especially when I see my own children scaling much greater heights on their own than I ever did with abundant help from home and friends.

In fact, I believe that we are in the midst of the most interesting times the world has ever witnessed so far, where everything seems to present itself with so many facets and infinite possibilities. Of course, I do not and cannot expect the future to replicate the past. The future is not only the realm of possibility but also an evolution to a higher plane [shades of Darwinism - I hope the creationists do not damn me for supporting the Darwanists/evolutionists].

Hope my long winding message helps awakening people instead having a soporific effect on them. Thanks.

Binod.

This is just what i meant- i love reading these kind of posts and i look forward to more of them.
Binod ji, you're a true Stoic. Your vision of the future seems bright, and i pray it comes true - i guess the optimist in me hasn't quite given up altogether.
It's the present state of the world that has me worried though.

Sajdah Ji,

As school kids, we used to plead with a super-fast teacher to completely stop teaching for two weeks or so, so that we could grasp and study what he had taught till then! I think some of the kids here, like myself and Sanjay Ji, will have to make a similar request on you.

When I visit your thread, I feel as if I am very new to HFM and Rafi Saab!
This thread certainly keeps giving me a complex.

Venkat

Venkat ji, you're being too modest. I wonder what's to become of the genuine 'newbies' to the world of old Hindi film music like Manish. ( Give us another intro - please do! tongue1.gif )

Speaking about the nature of psychological complexes ( especially the negative kind ), in this particular instance this malady comes with its own remedy - keep listening to more of Rafi sahab, and it's almost as good as being in therapy. Something we should all be indulging in without guilt.

Yes, there is another voice in that song, how i wish i knew who that is.
Venkat ji, i love the way you described Rafi sahab's voice in this song - it perfectly captures the emotion as well as the native charm of his voice. wub.gif

Wah wah Binod ji hats off to you. Pleasant reading and in some ways I can relate to some of it! Can't say long enough but till now been to hell and back! And must emphasize that I don't whether it was hell? or just the taste of the other scale of heaven.

One thinks he is going thru the worst period but have they been thru the worse others go thru, theirs probably doesn't touch even the tip.

Also there seems to be "quantity" no quality. Hear "thru one ear out the other".

Music is moral law. It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness and a gaiety and life to everything. It is the essence of order and leads to all that is good, true and beautiful..... AND Music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life. ~Ludwig van Beethoven

Sajdah Ji, I see you have warned me, but did not understand why!

Even if your answer to whether it is courtesy Maheshks Ji is 'yes', there is nothing wrong or amiss. On the contrary, if the answer is 'no', one more feather in your cap for independently possessing such a very rare song!

Hope you would understand. In any case, in my earlier post, I have even made it a point to mention the significance to me of that particular song.
