Friends,

Continuing on the OPN theme, when we talk of MITTI MEIN SONA (1960), we remember only the famous Asha solo, "Poocho Na Hamhe Ham Un Ke Liye", the great Piano melody of OPN.

But, there are in this film 5 Rafi-Asha duets, as per the above list, all of which are less known and heard. But, I do remember the Songs nos. 1 and 2, from my Vivdhbharati legacy.

Now, these 5 duets are not even available in the 3500-strong collection Rafi Saab's songs of Yusuf Ji, which I take as a very good benchmark.

But, I hope that either of the Mahesh-duo (the OPN experts of HF!) or CM2 saab may have at least some of these. Or, even Kamala Ji may surprise us!

I would request them to consider uploading these.

Thanks,

Venkat

The Song No.5 is already uploaded above by Haneef Ji. That leaves out Songs No.s 1 to 4.

Lakshmi,

Thank you very much for your post. It takes genuine, discerning music-lovers and nice human beings like you, to write such posts.

While on this, I will share a few points with you and the other Rafi fans who frequent this thread.

1. I have started this thread about 7+ months back, almost on my very first day of membership of HF.

2. I have started this thread simply to seek out some rare, but very nice, songs pertaining mostly to lesser known MDs such as Iqbal Quereshi, N.Datta, Snehal Bhatkar, Babul, G.S.Kohli, Lachhiram, Sudheer Phadke, C.Arjun, etc. The reason was that I was getting to hear these songs very infrequently even on Vividhbharati and they are just not available for purchase even from HMV, their original creator.

3. So, over the last 7 months, over 300-400 such rare and very nice songs were requested by me on this thread. Sure enough, this great Rafi fraternity on HF has delivered to me all of them, except 4 or 5 songs only. In fact, many uploaders have taken immense pleasure in uploading here, as they all knew the high standard of songs requested here.

4. Mind you, almost all the songs that I requested here are personally known to me and are the ones that I had listened to mostly on Vividhbharati over years. The few exceptions are one or two songs per film in my recent requests of full albums. I try to ask for a rare song only if it is nice. As you know, there are many rare songs which are not nice on the ear and that is why probably they had become rare. But, fortunately, there are a number of rare songs which are very nice too, especially those belonging to lesser known MDs.

5. So, in the process, a lot of members who did not have these songs could come here and download all these Rare Diamonds, as I called them. I have pleasure to inform you that downloads from this thread per song have exceded many times the 100 mark and the highest I can remember was around 140 downloads!

6. So, here I am, continuing to do what I know best with the blessings of all of you.

Regards to all,

Venkat

Venkatji & Friends,
I probably have made a mistake in committing to upload number 3 song (Ek ek aankh teri, a duet by Rafi & Asha). What I realized is the song I have is a solo by Rafi (don't know how it is in PC, never heard, don't know the film & md). It does not sound completely Hindi (may be Punjabi). However the wording appears to be almost same as Rafi Asha duet. Here it is (but with my appologies).
Singer: Rafi
Song: Ek ek ankh teri
Film: ?
Lyrics: ?
Music: OP Nayyer ????

Enjoy anyway (I will upload one OPN song later as a self punishment for this mistake).

Friends,
Don't know whether Naya Daur (OPN) has been already (or will be) in considerartion in this thread. May be I should just hint at it. Enjoy this one (again if you already have it). I have a few other nice songs from Naya Daur (if interested).
Singer: Rafi
Song: Aana hai to aa raah mein (5:40, 128kbps)
Film: Naya Daur (1957)
Lyrics: Saheer Ludhianvi
Music: OP Nayyer

Enjoy

Friends,

Finally, this very rare and very nice Rafi-Asha duet from Qaidi(1957) was uploaded by the one and only CM2 Ji in his Rafi thread. My sincere thanks to him. I give here the link. A must-download!

P.S. Just see the wonderful way Rafi Saab says the "Aaye Na Yakeen Arre Tujh Sa Haseen Tere Ham Se Itne Pyaar" part in his mukhda. Hats off to him!

I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

Friends,

While awaiting more uploads of the Rafi-Asha duets of Mitti Mein Sona, we go further on OPN to the FILM:HONG KONG (1962). This Film has 2 Rafi-Asha duets:

1."Oh My God, Oh My God, Haseenon Ko Kyon Dedi Tu Ne Haay Itni Beauty"---HongKong(1962)---OPN---Rafi & Asha

2."Tumhari Adaavon Pe Ae Husn Walon Agar Ham Na Marte"---Hong Kong(1962)---OPN---Rafi & Asha

The song No.1 is a fairly nice one, while I have to first listen to the Song No.2 to determine whether I knew it earlier or not.

Would someone please upload these two?

Thanks,

Venkat
