Friends,

One extremely nice old favorite of mine was uploaded by Pinky in her thread.

" Mai Dhoondthi Hoon Kahan O Sanam"---Film:Shrimati 420(1956)----MD:O.P.Nayyar---Rafi & Asha

The tune of this song is based on a certain theme music that OPN keeps playing throughout, in another film of his, Mr.&Mrs. 55.

Enjoy.

Venkat

I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

Friends,

Would someone kindly upload the following rare and nice song?

"Tip, Tip, To, Tho Mera Dil Hai Do"--Film:Mr.John(1959)----MD:N.Datta----Rafi & Geeta (Picturised on Johny Walker and Helen)

I shall be grateful even if someone uploads in his/her thread and gives a link here.

Venkat

Friends,

I wish to upload two pious, religious, non-filmi songs sung by Rafi Saab. In fact, the way he had rendered these two songs only strengthens my belief that he was truly God's ambassador!

1. "Allah Mere Allah Mere--Duniya Mein Meri Abroo Rakhna"

2. "Paon Padoo Tore Shyam, Brij Mein Laut Chalo"

After hearing these songs, what can we say except "Paon Padoo Tore Rafi Saab, Dharti Mein Laut Chalo"!

Venkat

Venkat ji, sorry for taking so long to post my views about that song, but I finally heard it today. Loved it.

It’s just like you said very peppy and modern ( not in today’s modern sense, and thank God for that! )
I noticed what you said about the way Rafi sahab sings that line each time in a different way, the second time is the best with that little ornamental glide of a ‘murki’ to the beat. A little piece of heaven.

I think this song ought to be the anthem for every one who has a commitment phobia – the risk averse type, like me. tongue1.gif

Friends,

For the benefit of recent members, I am uploading a very rare, BW video clipping, featuring Rafi Saab, OPN, Asha Bhosle and Qamar Jalalabadi, around 1957/58. One part is their rehearsing a Rafi-Asha duet from Howrah Bridge and another part is the recording of the famous duet from Tumsa Nahi Dekha, namely Aye Hain Door Se!

This was originally uploaded on HF by Priya Ji, whom I can never forget, thanks to this video clip.

See and enjoy a youngish looking Rafi Saab!

Friends,

I am giving here a link to a very nice and very very rare solo by Asha Bhosle from Film:Mr.Cartoon, M.A. The MD is OPN and the song goes like this:"Chanda Chale Jhoom Ke Badarwa Ko Choom Ke".

This song was uploaded by none other than our Mirsa Saab, at my request.

As we all know, OPN Saab keeps making excellent use of a flute-like (or is it flute itself?) instrument in many of his songs. But, his use of this instrument in this song between the Mukhda and Antara is indeed special!

Enjoy.

Venkat

Friends,

I am tempted to give a link to an extremely nice Rafi-Suriya duet uploaded by Sanjkash in Sajdah Ji's thread.

"Beqarar Hai Koyi"---Film:Shama Parwana (1954)---MD:Husnlal Bhagatram---Rafi & Suriaya

An excellent song and a must-download for those who do not have it. Listen especially to the Aalap-like part in this song. It is soul-stirring. Rafi Saab's rendition is simply out of this world!

Not a single word for Suraiya !!!!!

BC Saab,

My Rafi soft corner is well known! No question that Suriaya has matched Rafi Saab excellently in this great duet.
