Myawan Ji, Kamala Ji and Sanjay Ji,

My humble thanks for your congrartulations on this thread crossing 1000 posts.

Little did I know, at the time of starting this thread about 11 months back, that it would achieve this 'landmark', if it can be called that!

This thread is a 'class and mass' Rafi thread, keeping company with the many classy Rafi threads run by the likes of CM2 Ji, Yusuf, Kamala Ji, Lakshmi, Sajdah Ji, SS Ji and other stalwarts.

Well, I am able to continue this thread simply because it is very easy to do so on my part! For instance, out of the 1000 posts, about 400 posts must have borne the brunt of uploading, about a 200 posts must have thanked the uploaders, the balance 400 being my wishful (at times, 'greedy') requests!

I sincerely thank all the magnanimous uploaders whose uncomplaining (?) uploads were the key to the survival of this thread.

Venkat

PS. Many thanks, Kamala Ji, for the nice 1948-Actress upload. Many thanks, Sanjay Ji, for the melodious Grihastee upload.

I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

Friends,

Most of us know and have this great song from Film:Mera Qusoor Kya Hai(1964)--MD:Chitragupta:"Kaanton Pe Chal Ke---Kahin Se Maut Ko Lavo Ke Gham Ki Raat Kate".

But, there is another lesser-known Rafi solo in the same film as listed below.

"Aankhiyan Apni Chhupaa Ke Rakh Goriye, Zamana Sharabi"---Film:Mera Qusoor Kya Hai(1964)--MD:Chitragupta---Rafi

Could someone please upload this solo?

Thanks,

Venkat

Venkatji and Friends,
One nice duet. The song is partly a slower version of "Yeh julf agar khulke..." After wonderfully played harmonium, a very soft (almost drunken) voice of Rafi sahab follows.
Singers: Rafi & Asha
Song: Mehfil mein teri (3:27, 128kbps)
Film: Kaajal (1965)
Lyrics: Saheer Ludhianvi
Music: Ravi

Enjoy
Sanjay

Friends,

The one and only Vividhbharati, the deep treasure of old Hindi songs, has aired this morning a very rare solo of Rafi Saab.

"Girdhari O Girdhari---Laut Bhi Aao O Girdhari, Radha Neer Bahayi"---Film:Nagin Aur Sapera(1966)---MD:Harbans----Rafi

Does anyone at all have this and if so, could he/she kindly upload this rare and nice number?

Thanks,

Venkat

Venkat Ji and Friends,
While patriotic mood is not yet over, I contiue with this another beauty from Shaheed. All songs from this film were extremely effective. The film itself set the benchmark for patriotism and then carved all the songs on our hearts. I bet and am absolutely sure, everybody will feel something while listening to this song.
Singer: Rafi & Manna Dey
Song: Surfaroshi ki tamanna ab (5:03, 128kbps)
Film: Shaheed (1965)
Lyrics: Kaifi Azmi
Music: Prem Dhawan

Enjoy

Friends,

"Ek Jhalak Dikha Gayi, Bijliya Gira Gayi, Pyar Ban Ke Zindagi Mein Kaun Muskura Gayi"---Film:Roop Sundari(1964)--MD:Sardar Malik---Rafi

The above-named excellent solo was uploaded by Myawan Ji in his thread on my earlier request. But, the sound quality was very poor to the extent of not doing jusice to the song.

Could someone else re-upload this same song in good sound quality?

Thanks,

Venkat
