Hi All Anwar Lovers....
I feel that this is the time we, the Lovers of Anwar should work for the sake of his songs and this is the right time to come, share and contribute our songs with each other so that we can expand our collection. What a lovely song "Surmai Mukhra", likeness to a typical traditional number from 60's Golden Era - except I suspect this is non filmi; definitely not from album "NAGHMA".
Fans, below is Online Edition Chandigarth News extract I just happen to come across dated, November 21, 2004, Chandigarh, India. Anwar gave short interview, following is a synopsis by the reporter: http://www.tribuneindia.com/2004/20041121/cth2.htm He admires Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar besides Sunidhi Chouhan and Udit Narayan. While talking about his experiences in the music industry he said, Today the music industry is moving at a fast pace. I gave many hit songs and then shifted my base abroad. But when I came back I realised that many newcomers had not only established themselves but had acquired a formidable reputation. Now he is coming up with his own album Tohfa which will soon be released.  Does any one know any thing about this album 'Tohfa'? I am inclined to think, for one reason or another, it has not been released. But then again what do I know I live thousands of miles away from versova, Mumbai.  |

Nadeem Bhai as much as I know: 1) There is no song of Anwar with Rafi Sahab but in a chorus of "Pyala Hoton Tak [Duniyadari 1977]". 2) I have his live songs in a Video Cassette seems to be damaged.  But I will try to capture from it soon.So keep hope alive...  |
