Dear Priya Ji,

The Asha Bhosale-Talat duets are absolutely the best thing to have happened in the Hindi film sangeet! I had a HMV audio cassette of these duets and must have spent hours and hours listening to them. My favourite was, of course, the Mast Kalandar song Dile Nadan... and also the S. D. Burman composed Bol Na Bole Jane Wale... There was also the Sajjad composed delightful duet from Sangdil and the evergreen Sone Ki Chidiya lyric Sach Bata Tu Mujha pe Fida...

A tandem tune, rendered also by Mahendra Kapoor:

If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Which duet in Sangdil?

Dil Mein Sama Gaye Sajan
Phool Khile Chaman Chaman

The HMV Audio Cassette of Asha Bhosale / Talat duets has this song. The Earth Music Network, as usual, errs and credits it to Lata Mangeshkar.

Seems the error was HMV's in including the song in a Talat/Asha duets cassette, since it was a Talat/Lata duet.

Some time back I'd uploaded the video in the LM forum.

I am surprised that you have not even heard this most lovely and cheerful duet! You can get it from three sources: 1. The HMV audio cassette of Asha/Talat duets 2. The Sangdil VCD 3. The Sangdil audio cassette/CD(?). Of course someone at HF can upload it for you. I do want you to listen to it and enjoy the Sajjad magic.

Incidentally, the cassette also contains another Asha/Talat gem Hassin Chand Sitaron ka Wasta Aa Ja. Its music is by the MD of Zeenat (pl let me know the name). The film is (I believe Sipah Salar).

Priya:

Just to set your mind at rest, I've uploaded the duet at:
http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?show...72&#entry269372

It's entirely my pleasure! biggrin.gif

Mind you, it's a beautiful duet, and well worth downloading. I'd not hesitate a moment to include it among Lata-ji's best duets.

If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

As others have pointed out, the song is indeed a Lata/Talat duet. "Sangdil" has
2 of Lata's best songs, this duet with Talat and the other is the solo "Woh to chale
gaye ae dil". Over-all a very very very good soundtrack (including the Asha/Geeta
duet that I am very fond of).

"Haseen chaand sitaaroN ka vaasta aaja" is from the 1957 film "Mera salaam", music
by Hafiz Khan (yes, the composer for "Zeenat" as well). The film had another duet
by the same pair "Husn kehte haiN", which is okay. NOt in the same class. But the
Asha solo "Tumhe dil ne pukaara" is very nice.
