"ALLADIN & THE WONDERFUL LAMP" titled in Hindi as "Allaudin Aur Jaaduui Chiragh" featured Meena Kumari and Mahipal. This black-and-white costume-drama in 1952 was apparently a B-grade movie in which the composer S. N. Tripathi also acted! Obviously Meena Kumari was not an actress of stature at that time, nor was Asha-ji in the top rung--- it was Shamshad Begum who sang for the heroine.

Priya:
The torturous song & dance sequence reminded me of you prancing on/around your cats! Meow! tongue.gif

Don't bother referring VN --- the movie has another song featuring Asha-ji --- with Rafi-sahab, C. Ramchandra and Shamshad Begum, which I shall upload.

DVD rip:

But U sat and watched it na? tongue.gif Now when have U seen me dancing with my cats? We make a graceful trio. Actually my female cat has a voice like Shamshad Begum (just as hearty too) and the male cat like a very young Asha!!!!! (sure I am gonna be skinned alive for comparing Legends with cats!!!), me of course is a sublime mixture of Asha and Noor Jehan, no?
Actually it is my cats whcih prance on me!!! They stand on my feet and rub themselves against me. Imagine I love it. Don't I just esp in the rainy season when their paws are wet and muddy!! mad.gif
But, why are U being catty? poseur.gif

I do not need to refer VN. arrogant.gif
Ho sake to dil ke badle dil inayat kijiye, right? I got the song with the info that the third singer was Chitragupt (just checked VN book says so too!!!). Where did CR come in? unsure.gif
I have the 2 songs but in lower br. DVD versions are most most welcome. Thanks a million. bow.gif

A classic case of miscasting! Raj Kapoor and Nutan in a Muslim-social! Mitigated by the glorious tunes weaved by Roshan. Here's a video-clip in Real Media of a song-sequence picturized on Nutan and supporting artistes, featuring one of our perennial favourites of Asha-ji, her most famous/popular qawwali number. Asha-ji invariably includes this song in her live performances and often her live rendering over-shadows the recorded version.

Even in the Real Media format, the clip is in two files due to the duration of the song. Download both files to the same folder, extract one file and the other will extract automatically and merge to form one clip.

Yes that is Rajkapoor in disguise. The movie had a number of very good songs by
Mukesh, Asha and the famous Laga chunri me daag by Mannadey. Worth watching
at least once if you get a chance.

A classical maestro claimed he detected several ragas in an OPN composition, but the composer consistently stood by his dislaimer that he knew no classical music. Here's a video-clip in Real Media picturized on Asha Parekh and ? in a dance sequence from "PHIR WOHI DIL LAYA HOON", with the song having a definite semi-classical lilt.

Unniji, would you u/l the qawali from chaudvin Ka Chand sung by Asha ji & Shamshad Begum, "Sharmake kyon sab pardah nashi aanchal ko sambhala karte hai..." It is a very sweet song sequence where Tuntun appears at the end and Rehman is THE PEEPING TOM!!!

Also Mere dost Banha Hai dulha, aur phool khile hai dilme.....
(picturised on Johnny walker and guru dutt)
Thanks in advance
